Well.. My husband and I made an appointment last weekend (a week in advance) for a ride on Sunday (Jan 22) at 11AM. I stayed in touch with Jamie throughout the week, including the Saturday before our ride and the morning of our ride. He texted us Sunday morning confirming we still wanted to go - I replied quickly and said yes we would be there. We arrived at the Shady Grove barn at 10:50 Sunday morning and waited until 11:20AM. No one showed. I tried calling the barn twice and also sent a text - no response. Wasted the entire morning of our last day in town and still have received ZERO response from Shady Grove`as to why they no showed us. I even sent them an email Sunday afternoon stating my concern for Jamie as he had been very responsive leading up to our ride time. No call, no text, no email. This was the only thing I booked in advance for our trip to Mentone as it was at the top of my list for things to do. I would have booked elsewhere had I known we were going to get stood up. Really unprofessional and honestly im still really, really shocked that a "business" would do this.. especially with no apology or follow up what so ever. Don't waste your time...

Wow! Blown away by our experience. It can be tough to plan adventures with an under-two toddler but Shady Grove welcomes all ages. Katelyn was such a caring and patient guide both with us, and the horses. We were privileged to ride ex-police horse, Cowboy, who didn’t flinch a bit when our little one had a pre-nap tough moment and all the horses took it in stride while Katelyn helped us resettle. It was the perfect length for our family and it’s relieving to invest in an experience with completely positive-reinforcement-based training methods. This ranch does an amazing amount of good, and is definitely a must-do in any weather! Shady grove also offers riding lessons starting at 5 years old!...

We had an amazing time at Shady Grove Ranch. Katelyn was a WONDERFUL guide and was very attentive to our comfort levels on the horses. None of us were super experienced and it was the first time for one of us, but we all felt very safe and comfortable. We saw the beautiful De Soto Falls from a different angle and Katelyn explained lots of the local history to us. We definitely want to come back to ride at Shady Grove and Katelyn again. Also, the horses were so cute and very calm. They fell perfectly in line with one another and had such unique and funny personalities. It was SO much...

This is our second year to spend a portion of our spring break on horseback. I didn’t expect it to become an annual tradition but my grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the experience last year and were so looking forward to doing it again. Since spring break is all about the kids/grandkids, we saddled up and had another wonderful experience. The horses are surefooted and trustworthy, the guides are attentive and knowledgeable, the trails are peaceful, and the view from that side of the waterfall is much more majestic and serene.
