My visit to the Denali National Park Sled Dog Kennels was an absolute delight from start to finish, and it's all thanks to the exceptional Rangers and the incredible team led by David Tomeo! Their passion for these magnificent creatures and their dedication to preserving the sled dog tradition shines through every aspect of the experience.
The Rangers and David's team are true gems – patient, incredibly informative, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge. From the moment I arrived, they welcomed me with open arms and took the time to answer every question, making sure I left with a deep understanding of the sled dog history and their role in the park.

Their storytelling transported me to a different era, and I could sense the bond between the dogs and their handlers, a testament to the remarkable connection they've cultivated.
The joy and enthusiasm that radiate from David and his team are infectious. Their passion is contagious, and it added an extra layer of enchantment to the overall experience. I left the kennels with a newfound respect for these incredible animals and a heartwarming memory of a day well spent.

Read moreA visit to Denali National Park is not complete without a stopover at Historic Sled Dog Kennels. Due to time constraints, we missed dog sledding while in Fairbanks. For me, this is the best substitute for that missed event. Though there's no sledding part, we got the chance to get up close and personal with several Alaskan Huskies. My husband got the chance to massage 2 of them, who appeared to love the gesture and is asking for more. The huskies had their own personality (some are extroverted and would like to interact, and some are introverted and just want to be looked at). Before coming to the place, we watched a short film about the Denali Sled Dog training, which is as awesome as seeing them in person. It is highly recommended to watch that short film to understand the history and origin of the kennels and how the sled dogs get their training to perform the most unique job of transporting people and equipment in places that are impossible for modern vehicle to reach. It's awesome and is...

This is a FREE program but they do ask for donations which you can deposit at the entrance (all proceeds stay within the...
