We checked this gym out for the first time today. I've been to a lot of gyms, such as Golds Gym in LA, LA Fitness frequently in California, most in Alaska, and a few on the east coast. I feel pretty good about giving this gym a 5 star. They have everything I needed. The locker rooms are spacious and clean, sauna is available to use if desired, enough cardio equipment to get the job done - most gyms do not have 2 stairmasters so good on them, cardio machines are appropriately facing towards the windows for the view outside or towards the TV for maximum privacy, separated rooms for different purposes - weight room and a separate section for leg machines, nice indoor track outlooking the basketball courts (aired up basketballs available if needed but able to bring your own), multiple fitness classes offered, water foundations have a add on to fill up your water bottle which it's simple but strongly appreciated, good location, simple parking lot, kind front administrative staff that I've met so far, tanning as a option with upgrade, den child care available during specific times- really like the location being close to the track and weight rooms, turf area with weights you can push or pull with boxes to jump on too, crossfit area and classes available with ultimate package.
What people need to understand is that for the price you are getting, you are getting a very good deal for the variety. Yes, it does not have a pool but what is offered would be very difficult to find in the lower 48s. Crossfit gyms are normally separated and cost 150 to 200 a month regardless. Yes the weight room isn't "huge" but it has everything you truly need. Enough free weights are there. You just have to be creative on how you spend your time when working out, esp. if busy. This really is a good deal and yes, there's a one time fee but I'm happy to hear it's waived if you pay the yearly cost upfront. I know not everyone can afford that but for those that can, it's nice to have that waived.
Now my only hope is for childcare to be offered for a limited time frame on Sunday. But I know it's probably because not a lot of people work out with kids on Sundays. It's a personal preference request as I'd like to work out on Sundays and not struggle to find childcare else where on a Sunday but this does not defer me from liking everything else this gym offers.
I used to be very active into strength conditioning/fitness and being out of it for a few years, I was feeling pretty hesitant going back into a gym but today was a good day. They made it easy there for me despite being out of...
Read moreI am thrilled to have been a member of GFF/MTA sports center for years now and it just keeps getting better for me here!! Some of the things I absolutely love is... A variety of activities they have for kids and adults The small, friendly community feel where people will smile and say hi back when you greet them. LOTS of space to exercise (5 full sized nice basketball courts, a running track, free weights, weight machines, cardio machines, and fitness classes for kids and adults. I rarely feel crowded when trying to exercise (except maybe 5:30 to 6:30pm) but overall lots of space and friendly faces. I’m a dad with a wife and 2 kids, 3 years and 6 years old respectively. The childcare workers really seem to care about my kids which is SOOOOOO important for me, and there are programs to keep them fit and healthy, having fun with friends so they stay healthy and socially connected, which is always valuable, but even more necessary during this crazy 2020 year. GFF delivers that. The owners care about quality offered for their members and the staff they hire exhibit their care as well. Whenever I text about a machine or concern (which they have posters encouraging us to do) they quickly address it while I am still there at the gym, usually within about 10-20 minutes. If you have kids and need to exercise while they are being taken care of while you take care of yourself, GFF is a fantastic option. If you are a sports enthusiast, this is a good place for you. If you love group classes, GFF has them for you. That’s why this is my my favorite gym in the valley. Different people have different needs but this one meets the needs of my whole family and I am crazy about this gym and so thankful they are open 7 days a...
Read moreI love this place! From the day I walked in, I've always felt welcome. All of the coaches are amazing, and they work with me to help me progress from where I'm at. CrossFit is something EVERYONE can do, no matter where you're at in your fitness journey. (And if you've seen the 70s movie "Kelly's Heroes", Coach Jonas is basically Oddball with a manbun - have a little faith in yourself, but no negative waves😂) Special shout-out to him and Coach Amanda for helping me not only get started with CrossFit, but encouraging me every step of the way!💜 I've never felt so welcome anywhere before...especially as someone who's obese. But with GFF, I both feel that way AND genuinely enjoy attending classes 6 days a week (because there's none on Sundays). That's such an amazing thing to me. I even get out of bed early to go to the gym! And as anyone in my family will tell you, that's a miraculous feat since it usually takes a crowbar to pry me out of my coffin before noon.
In short, GFF is a gem of a place. Not only is the sense of community top-notch, the staff are friendly, warm, always willing to answer any questions and never try to brush you off or make you feel like you're inconveniencing them. I only wish that it had a fitness pool and/or jacuzzi; I feel like that would be a great benefit, especially for we CrossFitters and the large senior community there. It would also provide another exercise option. But even without that, this is hands-down the best gym ever! They even let you do a free 14-day trial to see if it's a good fit for you or not. If you're on the fence and looking for a new gym to call home, I can't recommend Grizzly Family...
