Matanuska River Scenic Overlook — Local services in Alaska

This was one of many scenic overlooks and highway access points we stopped at while in Alaska. We were in a self drive tour so time was a plentiful commodity. I took hundreds of pictures during the eight day trip and can't possibly match up each with exact roadside location but will be posting images from the trip and assigning them to the general areas on each highway. I would like to take another trip during a different season for some varying perspectives in the near future but I was totally impressed with the Alaska department of transportation for it's work in their highway system and whoever else is responsible for accommodating the driving...

We visited this overlook in Sutton AK at night in search of auroras. Great pull off spot — we saw Jupiter, Saturn, waning gibbous moon, Big Dipper, North Star and Orion (we were there a while.
