R&N GYM — Local services in Alaska

To me, a gym is a gym. You pick things up, you put them down, the environment is what I pay attention to. I waited to do the review until after going here for a little while. The staff at R&N is hands down amazing! There is always someone mopping, wiping things down and there to greet you as you come in. Morgan is great, she will push and encourage you to go further than you think you are capable of. Everyone from staff to other gym members, make you feel so welcome. We have been away from gyms for years and I am so happy we picked this one to come back to. Sean trained our daughter who plays hockey and her endurance has superceded what we thought was possible Thank you all for being so welcoming, and just plain amazing at what you do. It’s ok, you’re paying for a convience. It’s easily the best gym in Northpole. There’s also isn’t any others I know of. Most of if not all of the equipment is DRMO from either base gyms or other commercial. Even the lockers still have names on them. The dumbbells are rusted quite a bit with holes in them. The accuracy of the weights is nonexistent. It’s very cluttered and walking through machines is difficult. There’s random hardware against the walls, it’s the best gym made of things thrown away. I have no idea what gym dues goes toward. The front area is an absolute mess, there are barricades up to funnel all the incoming traffic into a narrow awkward 4 foot opening which is weird cause there’s rarely anyone working here. Good location. But the gym doesn’t seem to put money back into the gym. A lot of the equipment comes from the bases. Deadlift bars and bench press bars are all pretty much bent. All the machines need some care. You’ll find of a lot of reminders on the wall of if you do x or x you’ll be asked to leave. The owner doesn’t really talk to his members unless you fit the meatball profile. Morgan the manager, well if you need a hook up there ya go. Pretty disgusting knowing the owner is married and flaunting his that he’s cheating on his wife to his members, pretty scum bag move. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this gym.
