I grew up in Fairbanks and have always enjoyed a stop at the Knotty Shop for ice cream. It has always been delicious. That has changed. The cookie dough ice-cream was vanilla with mini chocolate chips and butter pecan had no flavor at all. I'm not even sure what they were aiming for it to taste like. It was a negative flavor, not even a sweet cream base. I love butter Pecan, and this was not it. Glad I did, I ate some of the best chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream ever while I walked around and looked at all the amazing and delicious food stuffs I wanted to take home to my family and friends. I decided on multiple jams and jellies and salmon seasoning. Long story short, I haven't lived in Alaska for a few years now but I still order stuff from them! It's that good. And, they are still above and beyond helpful, going so far as to ship specific items for me. Thank you...
Read moreI always love visiting here. It's on the freeway on your way into North Pole. Just a cute little cabin with knotty wood sculptures (like a giant mosquito) out front, and old fashioned ice cream to die for in all kinds of unique flavors. There are tons of gifts in here. Lots of local handmade stuff from scarves and animal pelts to authentic native crafts and local stones and art. Very fun. Lots and lots of things to look at. They also have a room filled with taxidermied local wildlife that are posed like it's a huge diorama. Fun place to take the kids to look around. I...
