Zoo Town Surfers are the best! My friends and I were in town from Florida without a car, and the owner helped us with transportation both ways. The lodge is also really cool and relaxed, with a great team of groundskeepers and custom meal options. Even with the laid back attitude, theyâre very focused on safety... solid briefings and equipment.
They donât send out big mass groups of people, youâre getting a more customized tour. My group of four had Clay and the other raft we were with had Zack as a guide. Both were super nice and knowledgeable, and they make delicious food in addition to getting us safely through rapids. You can tell theyâre experienced because they bring you through fun and spalshy rapids with minimal work on your part, but they still make sure you get cool photos and turn you around after the rapid so you can see it and get cool shots.
Clay was the man. He apologized for us not seeing any bald eagles and not two minutes later we watched two eagles get into a territorial battle right in front of us. Only a true man of the river could call that in.
They also do a great job of making sure you arenât going down the river with the big crowds from other companies, but on the occasion where you do run into other companies you can tell how much more Zoo Town does to make sure you have a personalized, memorable experience. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to try some whitewater in Montana!
Bonus shout out to Kim, who was our clutch and timely bus driver, Jason âShredâ Shreder, the owner and excellent Uber driver, and his dog Hazel, who is the first dog to ever ignore me and ultimately made me strive for her attention...
Read moreZootown Surfers was an amazing rafting experience for our family. my husband, 8yo daughter and I are traveling through Missoula and my husband booked a trip. Weâre vegetarians, and a staff member called a couple of days before our trip to confirm the food choices work for us. When we arrived, the staff Maya and Fin greeted us and walked us through everything we needed to know for the water. We were on a boat with Fin, and we had our 8yo daughter along with someone who had never rafted before. We felt prepared and safe due to the safety precautions of Zootown Surfers.
While on the boat, during a no rapid section, Fin taught our daughter how to row the boat, which was one of the highlights of her trip. At lunch, we found out the owner Jason baked us delicious chocolate chip cookies - a highlight for us all! Also, while out on the boat, Fin continually pointed out the wildlife around us, like eagles, swallows, mergansers, and more. To wrap it up, they allowed our daughter to clean gear, which she found fun. Oh, and I forgot my water bottle at the shop, and they brought it to their place in Missoula so I didnât have to drive too far to get it.
Overall, we had a great day, Fin was a fabulous guide, and weâd recommend this company for anyone wanting to...

Andra treated us to mouthwatering sandwiches, fresh snacks, and refreshing drinks, all while we soaked in the stunning scenery of a hidden stretch of river accessible only by foot. We canât say enough good things about Zoo Town Surfers â they turned an ordinary day into an extraordinary memory for our whole family.
