United States Postal Service — Local services in Alexandria

Friendly, helpful clean, plenty of parking, since my first review, at the end of july I received a receipt to sign for a letter. I signed it and left it in the box Thursday. Friday the signed receipt was still there. I thought if it was still there Saturday morning. Since the post office is open till 12:00 noon, I will drive there with the receipt to get it. Upon arriving at the post office I gave the man the receipt and after about 10 minutes or so he came back and said he cannot find it. He said it might be out on the truck. I said how can we avoid this from happening as if there is a situation where I have the receipt and bring it to the post office. What if the mailman has it out in his truck or what if I leave the signed receipt in the mailbox but you guys are storing it here in the office? How can I make sure that it all matches up so I get the letter? He said he didn't know. He asked if we could leave our phone number and he will call if he finds it or comes across it.
