READ THIS BEFORE PURCHASING! This is the most honest, fair and accurate review you will find. I've purchased both bead board and poplar base board trim from KY Lumber over the past year. First the good. Their service is exceptional. The folks are very friendly and helpful. Their pricing seems reasonable, but it's somewhat hard to gauge because of the uniqueness of their products. Second the so-so. Their product appears to look very good when you view their samples and marketing on their website. HOWEVER - BUYER BEWARE!!! If you are looking for product without defects - don't expect the samples and marketing materials to be an accurate reflection of what you will get. When I was looking at the poplar baseboard product in their showroom, it looked perfect. However, when I picked it up, they had it completely wrapped up so you couldn't see it. When I got it home and took it out, it was too late. Much of it had holes and/or busted edges. This required puttying of the holes and a lot of scrap due to the busted edges. I'm guessing about 30-40% was either unusable or required a lot of work to fix. It cost me more $$$ to fix than what it was worth. But, in all fairness, their bead board product was what I expected. It was sold as a lower grade product, with holes and imperfections. This was fine, because proper expectations were set in advance. Summary - before you purchase, be sure to check the product before you leave. What they show you in the showroom may be dramatically different than what you get. And they won't...
Read moreKentucky Lumber has been an amazing company to work with! They have treated me with the utmost care and attention, and always responded to my questions with detailed, thorough responses. It's been my experience that companies like this are rare indeed these days!
I had been searching high and low, mostly in the Kansas City area (which I live near), for a specific style of siding to replace some that had rotted on my old garage. I had about given up when I saw an ad for Kentucky Lumber on Facebook Marketplace. I thought perhaps they had a local outlet, but when I contacted them I found out they didn't. From that point, though, they continued to work with me to find a solution for my project. They had the specific style I needed (and at a good price, too), the problem was getting the siding to me, since it was too far for me to drive. What they did to help me was to cut the boards down (which was possible because I didn't need full length boards, and which saved on shipping) and package them (very securely), and mail them. Very quickly I received the boards, which were of a very nice quality.
All of this would have impressed me if I had needed 300 boards or even 30- but I only needed THREE. Yep-- just three, and they knew that from the start. And yet, they bent over backwards to help me out. I can't recommend Kentucky...
Read moreI wanted to share my experience with Kentucky Lumber. I first called them to see if they had the lumber we needed to build a kitchen pantry shelf and to get prices. I spoke with Tyler and he was so nice and helpful and answered all my questions. We then visited there and looked at their samples and browsed their showroom. We were greeted immediately and was offered coffee by the receptionist. She was also very nice. We placed our order and picked it up at the warehouse. They let us inspect our purchase to make sure we were happy with it before putting it on the truck. Again we were offered a bottle of water, he was so nice as well. We then were allowed to browse the warehouse with Malachi. He was very kind and answered all our questions. I was very impressed with their follow up texts. They wanted to make sure we had everything we needed and wanted us to be happy with our purchase. Needless to say, our experience with Kentucky Lumber was very impressive! Great quality, great price and awesome customer service! Thank you...
