I recently had the opportunity to visit Petroglyph Point, located just outside the main Lava Beds National Monument park, and it was a captivating experience for history enthusiasts. Although the site is protected by a fence, allowing limited access, it still offers a glimpse into the fascinating world of petroglyphs and provides ample opportunities for great photographs.

One aspect to note is that over the years, the site has unfortunately fallen victim to vandalism, and its effects are visible. It is disheartening to see the damage caused to these ancient rock carvings, but it should not deter you from visiting. Despite the vandalism, the petroglyphs still retain their historical significance and showcase the artistic expressions of past civilizations.

The fact that Petroglyph Point is located just outside the main Lava Beds National Monument park adds to its appeal. It allows visitors to delve into the rich history of the region while exploring a site that is slightly off the beaten path. The surrounding landscape enhances the experience, providing a tranquil setting that complements the historical significance of the petroglyphs.

I would encourage anyone who enjoys history to make the trip to Petroglyph Point. Witnessing these ancient carvings firsthand is a unique experience, even with the visible signs of vandalism. Let us all strive to respect and appreciate the cultural heritage represented by the petroglyphs, ensuring their preservation for future...

Amazing petroglyph site is a must-see if visiting the Lava Beds National Monument. You can get the interpretive guide at the Lava Beds National Monument Vistor Center or at the park entrance booth. Although the hiking trail is marked, the majority of ancient art is alongside the dirt road. The petroglyphs are protected with a metal fence. You can use the All Trails app for more hiking trail...

If you are in this part of the state it's very important to stop to get a true understanding of the geology but the ancient makeup of the land and the lake. You get to put your eyes upon many different petroglyphs that get the mind racing. Well there hopefully you get to see several different types of bird of prey up in the cliffs or flying above you chasing them...
