At one time the golf course at Ft. Cobb was one of my favorites. I haven't played there in several months until this week. I was very disappointed in how poor a shape the course was in. I thought with the mild summer and plentiful rain it would be in good condition. There were several bare spots and weedy areas in the fairways. The greens had many bare spots. Some of the Tee boxes were ok, but many had grass so tall that any shot had to be played from a tee. I know our Lieutenant Governor has talked about allocating some funds to help out the state parks; sure hope he does so.    Read moreCourse has a nice layout and has some very nice wooded/lake scenery, but it needs some attention. Greens are bit rough looking on some holes, some tree trimming is needed in some areas, weeds need killing, bare spots needs sodding, etc. Could be a great course with just a good bit of attention. Otherwise, the greens fees are too much for the shape it is currently in. I'd rather spend that greens fee at Roman Nose or Boiling Springs. The lady working the pro shop was very nice and...
   Read morePlay this course every year and it just get worse and worse. Its a good lay out but it has all the signs of very poor management. Theydont even do the basic things like hose the mud ok the carts, service the ball washers, move the tee markers. Things with very little cost. No pride in ownership type stuff. The greens get smaller every year as portions of them die and are not replaced.
It's a shame. Could be nice track if management gave two flips about...
