My experiences with having my father at this facility as both a short term patient on the first floor and now as a long term patient on the second floor has been a great relief. I have visited other facilities, when other family members have needed short term rehab, where when you get on that floor it is difficult to find any staff as there may only be one person assigned to that whole floor. My experiences visiting Bear Mountain are the exact opposite. I have come by to pick up my father for appointments in the mornings as well as afternoons and have visited him with family members on the weekends and I regularly encounter a flurry of staff in the hallways either delivering meals or cleaning rooms or handling laundry and I typically find at least two staff members behind the counter at the Nurse's station. I have never had to struggle to find a staff member when needed. The staff has always been friendly and responsive to any concerns or issues like his TV remote going missing, likely having got caught up in his bed linens when being taken to be washed. The many times I have witnessed the patience and friendly gentle care not only towards my father but to other floor residents gives me great comfort. Robin Wongera who leads the Team on the 2nd floor has been especially kind and helpful with my fathers care. As many do, I was concerned about my father being under someone else's care long term, however, he is so happy being there and seems far more engaged than I have seen when he was at home with much less stimulus and community. I cannot speak to what others may have experienced or commented in their reviews, I can only say that in the 4+ years my father has been under the care of the staff at Bear Mountain he has actually shown cognitive improvements and is now actually eager to participate in outings from the facility to attend family gatherings, which in the past when living at home, he would always defer citing being too tired to go. Whenever someone asks me about my father and his stay at this facility, I sing its praises and how truly happy he is and always indicate that if they are ever in need of this type of short term or long term care that I highly recommend...
Read moreHorrible place. 18 patients per nurse, at least. Nursing staff is very good but their hands are tied. I had to wait 14 hrs for my 1st pain medicine because of their ridiculous intake bureaucracy. After being an established patient I often waited 2-3 hrs longer than scheduled for my meds because the nurse was busy
Patients wait in their beds, chairs & bathrooms for hours without anyone answering bells. I heard a CNA tell my roommate, just go in your diaper when he complained that she waited for 2 hours. Some good CNAs, some could care less. Can’t complain about pt/ot therapists. They take full dementia patients & keep them in rooms with people recovering from surgery. All night long there are screaming patients. Some due to dementia & some just so frustrated that no one will come help them. I read someone say it was clean. I cannot agree. My father was also a patient & he was discharged with community spread pneumonia which he brought home to my mother & my brother with cancer. 5 months after discharge he was diagnosed with scabies that they said he brought home as well. It took 6 weeks to start a rash & 3 months to get correct diagnosis. Food was poor to inedible. There is long term care on 2nd floor that I had the misfortune of spending 2 months. Uncontrolled patients, throwing food & cutlery, screaming obscenities including disturbing racial slurs at staff. Morning meds were often distributed at 11am

Read moreI want to thank each and everyone at Bear Mountain for their kind and compassionate care of my husband Bob. Their diligence to the safety and comfort of the residents was unparalleled. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile from the Food Director, Marianne. She quickly became friends with both my husband and myself. She would often visit and check in on Bob when I couldn’t be there. Her devotion to her job and the residents goes far beyond what is expected. After 3 months she is now considered family by both of us. Early on in my husband’s stay he was having a particularly hard night. The Director of Nursing, Diane came in at 4AM to sit with and comfort him. She consistently followed his progress and spoke personally with each of us. To mention everyone by name would make a book of this review. The entire staff was joyful, comforting, professional and respectful. This included Janitorial, women at the sign in desk, CNAs, nurses, kitchen staff, physical, occupational, and speech therapists and administrative staff. Connie, the Executive Director runs a tight ship and it shows in every aspect of the organization. My husband made great strides in his recovery and we were given the education and tools to continue his care at home. We couldn’t be more pleased or complimentary of everyone we came in contact with. We highly recommend Bear Mountain of Andover to anyone in need of...
