Three stars for the wait time: The one hour wait time was longer than I was expecting mostly because the name “ExpressCare” suggests otherwise. There were other people in the waiting room expressing their frustration over the wait time as well. There were maybe four patients when I sat down. I think if the name of the place was called “SameDayCare” my expectations would be reset. After all, the reason I came in was because my regular doctor couldn’t see me the same day. And yes, it did cross my mind, the conflict of interest having a primary care and urgent care owned by the same company in the same facility. Obviously, there’s a financial gain in instituting a policy whereby same day appointments are rejected by the primary care business in order to direct patients to the more expense ExpressCare business.
Five stars for the Medical staff: Once in the examining room the wait time was short which is really important to me since it’s a captive situation at that point. The staff was top notch, provided help on the spot and prescription drugs that I could pick up within the hour. Overall I was very satisfied...
Read moreThis was my first visit to the ExpressCare at Andover Medical Center, and I was very pleased with it. The parking is a little tight (despite a recent addition of a parking deck), and the building lay-out is a bit confusing (it looks like one building, but it is set up as two, with separate entrances for different services). But once I entered the ExpressCare section, it was great! There were about 5 people waiting, but by the time I completed the registration for new patients procedure, it was time to see the nurse and doctor. I met with the nurse for a few minutes to list my symptoms and for her to take vital signs and a sample, and then the doctor was in 5 minutes later with the results of the lab tests and the diagnosis and treatment plan. Very efficient and no long waits in the examination room. Both the nurse and doctor were very friendly, very patient, very informative, and made me feel very comfortable and confident that I had made the right choice for urgent care. Now, no one enjoys going to the doctor, but ExpressCare made this...
Read moreWas told by doctor that I need to see a specialist and that he would make the appointment immediately. The next day I called only to find out that the receptionist was not going to make my appointment with the specialist until I filled out a bunch of paperwork with claim numbers and adjusters that I did not have the information on. I was basically denied seeing a doctor that I urgently needed to see just because PMA was afraid they were not going to get paid. It is a worker's compensation case. I called up my insurance company and they said that PMA could call them directly and bill them directly and that the insurance company would pay them and then bill workers compensation themselves. On the form that I was provided it actually says please provide us with the following information on this form within 14 days.... 14 days. But that is not true. PMA wants their money immediately or they will not book you an appointment. it's too bad that you have to jump through hoops of...
