On 11/30/22, I enjoyed my first round a Copper Valley (CV) with a buddy. The course was in good condition with many positive and only a few negatives. The course is located in beautiful rolling hills and with the fall colors in play the day was a visual delight.
The positives included several clean restrooms peppered around the course, well maintained fairways and greens (which were fast), and tee boxes were in good shape for the most part. Also, the cart navigation was cool and included radio with Country music.
Being in the foothills, it is interesting to manage shots with the left/right slopes in the fairways. I hit several shots to the left, hoping they would hit the hill and then roll down into the fairway, which they did. If you enjoy that kind of frustration, this course is for you. :)
The negatives were several sand traps that needed maintenance. I wondered why most were in great shape but some were neglected. Maybe some follow-up my management on the grounds crew? In the winter, the course uses a shotgun start process after 10am to avoid frost delays. The downside was that we got a little backed up at times. Also, after we rounded the 18th and went to the 1st tee, the GPS said we had exceeded our round, but I think it is a setting in the GPS they can turn off to accommodate shotgun starts (not everyone starts at 1 and finishes on 18).
Overall a great experience. I am looking forward...
Read moreREAD ALL: First of all, I want to know who these people are that rated this course above 2 stars in the last 6 months. This course used to be one of the top courses in Northern California. for many years. This past year it has taken a massive change for the worse. NONE of the Bunkers are maintained. Many lack enough sand and have the felt exposed in multiple spots. The fairways are HORRIBLE. I had to clean mud off my ball on almost every hole. We even lost two balls in fairways because they plugged deep. Each fairway has massive amounts of mud in various locations. Other portions of the fairways are dry and dead. There are invasive species of grass now on every fairway. Absolutely horrendous shape. The tee boxes are not maintained either. Restrooms do not have running water in the sinks. Never been to a course in such bad shape. There is no way there is a paid Superintendent on staff. If so, they need to fire him immediately. DO NOT PAY $115 to play this course. You will feel ripped off. It's in worse shape than many local $50 muni's. I will...

Paid for our round - person at the counter didn’t say anything about my attire (Jeans and a windbreaker jacket) — we were about to tee off and he came out to tell me he can’t let me on the course with jeans. Asked if they had slacks he said yes….went in and told him I had Puma black sweats under my jeans (was like 40 degrees) he said that was fine. Switched them around…walked through the pro shop and then was told I couldn’t go on cause of no collared shirt. I said what did it matter I was wearing a long sleeved dri-fit and a jacket zipped all the way up with a scarf! He said I would need to buy a collared shirt - so I did. Then when we finally get to the tee box to start our round…the group in front of us one of them was wearing a SF Giants hoodie and he didn’t say anything to him about his attire. Felt like I was being harassed about my attire due to him having to work a little extra regarding the gift card I used. Even my brother-in-law was shocked at...
