My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend getaway at this delightful cabin in early November 2013. The cabin itself is so welcoming and designed with meticulous attention to detail-I wish I could live there! Then there is the amazing physical location...as I live a bit outside of town I thought I was already seeing the stars quite clearly but when I saw the sky from the luxurious comfort of the hot tub I was blown away! And yes I did even see a shooting star! Did my wish come true? Well that of course I cannot reveal but I would strongly suggest that you make a reservation as soon as your schedule allows. We were able to walk over to the winery during the afternoon and enjoy some live music and local beverages but it was just perfect to be able to walk back "home" and have the peaceful surroundings of our cabin to share a meal together in the evening. The bed was super comfortable and the shower alone is worth the price of the whole weekend! Everything was provided as far as a fully equipped kitchen, soft comfy towels and bathrobes, and a fireplace that popped to life with the flick of a switch. We were able to sit and watch a whole movie without interruption (which hasn't happened since). Overall, I could not recommend this place highly enough. The craftsmanship is obvious, the natural setting idyllic, and even though we were less than an hour from home, it felt like we were at an oasis miles from all the day to...
Read moreThe BEST customer service, the BEST and most unique place to stay! I went solo w/my dog. Nancy & Ed are the nicest &most genuine people ever. Had the nicest call from Nancy to confirm/chat about my dog & Ed called day before to see if I had any questions even if about things to do in the area. We ended up chatting 45mins getting to know each other. Upon arrival, a dog basket & the sweetest welcome note. I felt very safe & well taken care of traveling solo. They just had insane amount of rain & Ed let me know he spent time spreading gravel everywhere so the rain wouldn't effect the grounds as much-they make sure to make your stay perfect even if mother nature tries otherwise .They put so much thought &love into the house & your experience. Little things: wonderful smelling individual shampoo/condition/soap/lotion. Good kleenex (I have allergies lol!) Couch-comfy and recline for back & legs which was the best from my chronic back pain--w/that--what a comfortable bed & pillows full of support. Hot tub/outdoor area/scenery is AMAZING! My dog &I really loved the "hobbit tree". Little touches/thoughts were so great! I was sick the whole time but bc the place was comfy I didn't mind at all. I wish I could live there 24/7. Walking distance to Blue...
Read moreMy husband and I had a fantastic stay at the Rocky Comfort Cabins in Southern IL this past March. The cabin was spacious for two (or four - we only used one bedroom), simply but beautifully decorated and comfortable. We greatly enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and the quiet, dark nights that allowed for ideal sleeping conditions.
The cabin itself was wonderfully close (just a walk around the trees) to the Blue Sky Winery, and also easily accessible to several other local wineries in the area.
We also enjoyed the close proximity to amazing hiking opportunities in the Shawnee National Forest (Panther’s Den hike), and to many other hiking and recreational areas. The creeks in the area were stunning and not too difficult to follow if you prefer to start hiking right from the cabin.
We had an opportunity to drive around a bit and sample some of the local culture available in such towns as Anna, Cobden and Alto Pass. Despite the small town setting, there were excellent restaurants and good dining options.
We would recommend the Rocky Comfort Cabins to anyone who enjoys the outdoors, hiking, relaxation, quite nights and of course…a good glass of...
