I signed up two dogs. I have received conflicting information from this facility vs all the other trainers I have spoke to. The people seem nice. So they get two stars for that. Things you need to be aware of: -9/10 your dog will need a prong collar (all trainers seem to prefer prongs and think very few dogs can be trained without prong). If you do not use a prong, they will discuss you not getting a prong with other employees. if you are looking to show, I recommend finding a training facility specialize in that kind of training if you are looking to show, YOU CANNOT USE PRONG IN THE RING per AKC(REGARDLESS OF WHAT THIS TRAINING FACILITY SAYS). -they do not give refunds (they make this clear even if you are not asking for a refund, just to switch classes... classes just began last week) -once you pay for a class, you are locked into that class. Cannot switch days or time, cannot talk to the trainer on a different day if you miss, and DEFINITELY NO REFUND (just making sure you know... even if you do not mention getting a refund, they will repeat over and over NO REFUND) do not ask for the trainers information (you know to help you if a problem arises with your pup), they are not that kind of training facility. Find a different one if that's what you are looking for. If you miss a class, you need to show up 10 minutes early to the next class to find out what you missed. -you are paying for 6 weeks of lessons, except the first week you do nothing (other than sit there, hear about how your dog needs the prong collar and watch their dogs show you their obedience). Well, the class on Monday you do work with your dog about sit. The one with candance (I think that her name) on Saturday, you sit there. Speak to other trainers at other places before signing up here. I guarantee you will find a place that seems to actually care about your dog. I left them feeling like if I don't have my dog in a prong, they will not succeed at obedience training. I am not really sure what will happen when we get home and the prong is off (it is only suppose to be on while training and being supervised). The "obedience" they showed with their dogs were all with prong collars. I have been to training facilities when they showed "obedience", the dog was off leash. this place seems to be about the money. The cashiers are nice (probably so you have a friendly person to hand the money over to).
From previous reviews, the owners do not care. I was EXTREMELY hopeful and foolish to think the reviews similar to this was just "their" experience and would never happen to me. I was wrong. I hope you don't make the same mistake.
I recommend going and seeing the facility and maybe meeting trainer before signing up. I have one trainer I like and one I am not a fan of. I wish I would have found the other training facilities I found before I found here. Here are a few names to check out training through (I suggest checking them all out thoroughly before paying for a class): Petsmart Lucky Dog Trainer Shape A Pup All American Dog Training Lisa's K-9 Kids
There are a lot others. Google dog training or akc star puppy classes. Do your research. Have a nice day 😁
P.S. I have spoken to dog breeders, handlers and several other trainers. They all recommend similar things. When I told, most were horrified. They raised the same question "once prong is off, how will dog act?" They were all shocked the trainers here all think prong is the best. The breeders & handlers said they will no longer be recommending this place to their customers.
Oh, the breeder said she has had about 7 or 8 puppy buyers come to this place and all have the same bad experience. They ended up losing money here & having to go to a different training facility. At $120 per class.. that's almost $1,000 paid for training that was not received (since the people went else where). That is just feedback from one person that recommended this place. Can you imagine how much they profit each year over people that do not attend the classes due not liking trainer/type...
Read moreI’d stopped in a week ago to get a quote on what grooming would be and felt comfortable with the price, it was comparable to other groomers in the area, so I made an appointment. Yesterday, I brought my four-year-old toy poodle in to be groomed. I wanted a trim using the number four clippers and clean feet. But when I went to pick up TeddyBear he looked cute until I started really looking at him. Turns out the groomer broke her number four clippers called me and said do I want to go and longer with a three or shorter with a five? I picked shorter with a five, and now I see all the grooming errors in his fur. You can see where she shaved part but didn’t join the edges, his face has got shorter areas and longer areas that don’t make any sense, and when she did clean feet in the front she went halfway up his leg but not in the back and they’re not truly clean cause there’s hair still sticking out. Now I’m going to have to clean it up. This whole experience was $75 not $45 I was quoted earlier. I did complain about the bill and she took $10 off. These people need to do a cost analysis because when you walk out paying double what you were quoted...
Read moreLive very close to Pets West and never really went in to explore until a couple of months ago when I was in between bags of food for my 2 dogs; I usually get the food shipped from Amazon. When I walked in I was greeted by a beautiful golden retriever that my children played with while I browsed. I was helped immediately by an employee. Right away I knew I wasn't at a typical pet store. She was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. PIcked up "The Big Bag" of dog food from Canidae. When I told her I would have to make a point of stopping by, she told me they do free delivery, so that's nice. I was a couple of days away from a shipment of my regular food from Amazon, so I didn't buy again until a couple of weeks ago. Same experience, different employee, which was great. When I checked out, the person who seemed to be either the manager or owner, very warmly and kindly said "Thank you sir". It wasn't your typical thank you that you get everywhere. He was genuinely thanking me for my business. I've been there twice, both times got the exact same stellar customer service. No...
