I dont even know where to begin! We are trying to adopt 2 kittens from this shelter. When we first went to look over the kitties the woman who was helping us was very rude and standoffish. Next to my Mother in Law she was the most unpleasant woman I have ever met. She had literally nothing good to say about any of the cats and it sounded like none of them were worth taking home. Its been well over 2 weeks going on 3 and still not a word from these people. I called 3 days in a row asking questions to which I got no good answers. Whoever I was talking to on the phone was very snappy when I called asking about our kittens and I was told they had to be spayed and neutered before they could come home. Okay cool. I told this woman I had no idea about that because yet again I was given no information and didn't know they couldnt come home due to that and when I said okay she hung up on me. Still no idea if we'll get the kittens and at this point I am tired of the run around. Also the entire shelter is so run down and understaffed its gross. I don't know if they dont receive enough money in donations or from the county to keep it nicely ran or not. I sincerely hope whoever is in charge gets the help and resources he or she needs to better take care of these animals and find a home for them and maybe get some more friendly compassionate and helpful employees/volunteers to help get the pets settled into their...
Read moreI brought a newborn kitten my mom found outside to them and immediately the lady was rude and stayed rude throughout the entire conversation. Before even knowing the situation she asked where I found the cat and I told her Anniston. She asked me where the mama cat was and I told her I had no idea? That it was only the kitten outside and then proceeded to tell me that to take care of a newborn kitten it needs 24/7 care and they don’t do that because they like their time off. Exact words. I was in shock and she told me I could take it to animal control but they would tell me the same thing. I told her if I left it outside their gate then would they try to care for it? and she threatened to call the cops on me for abandoning “my” cat, which isn’t even my cat???? I was just trying to do the right thing and she called the cops anyway after I got back in my vehicle with the cat. The dogs that I saw outside were very skinny as well. This place needs to be looked into...
Read moreMy roommate and I were trying to adopt a dog because we both grew up with animals and miss the companionship. We visited a dog that has been in the same cramped outdoor kennel there since 2015, filled out an application, and have tried to follow up on our application to no avail. The last time we tried to visit her we were told they were short staffed and no dogs were open for visitation that day. Every time we call they say their boss has our application and we’ll hear from them. It’s been 3 weeks and we haven’t heard a word. The treatment we have received is extremely frustrating, but the worst part of it all is the true feeling that these dogs are not being cared for the way they should. I’ll add that most of the staff was kind and helpful. The same condescending rude woman has been the cause for our problems. They should really think about firing her. Even if she is a volunteer you can tell when someone is an animal person, and she...
