“I Ignored the 1-Star Reviews — Now I’m Out of Over $130.00+"
I would not recommend Accessories4Less for big-ticket items like AV receivers or anything else. Their prices look attractive, but the return policy is very unfriendly. The website's condition section for the unit I purchased reads "you might even get something better than new" — thoroughly cleaned, tested, and renewed to original condition", that "Yamaha product undergoes such close scrutiny" and "Yamaha's refurbished mean “as new.” This is far from the truth because the a/v receiver I received was defective and showed signs of wear. I started the return process and talked to Austin on the phone. He said they’ll check the unit out to determine if it’s a defect, and promise no restocking fee if it is' yet when I returned it I still ended up losing over $130 in shipping and restocking fees. Other customers have had similar experiences and lost more. They don’t send defective items back to the manufacturer — instead, they inspect and test them in-house. they don't use certified technicians, therefore it's impossible for them to properly diagnosed the unit to issue a refund as fast as they issued my reduced refund. In reality, you’ll be charged fees regardless if it’s defective or not and the next customer may get that defective unit. If they decide it’s not defective, you will pay return shipping both ways(yes, they will deduct/charge you for the initial free shipping plus you have to pay the fee to return it) plus a 10–15% restocking fee, even if the product arrived in poor condition. AVRs are heavy, so the costs add up quickly. With a return policy like this, it’s clear Accessories4Less does not want or care about having returning customers. It literally has scam-like tendencies. Buying from Accessories4less is a gamble. Okay if you’re 100% sure you’ll keep the item, but extremely risky if there’s a chance you’ll need to return it. . I’d recommend going with places like Crutchfield, Amazon (direct), or Best Buy, where return policies are far more customer-friendly.
Bottom line: The discount is not worth the risk. Just don't.
9/30/2025 Respond to owners response:
Sir/ Madam, It appears you have the wrong customer. This is my first time ever ordering anything from your company. You should make sure you're responding to the correct customer.
added 9/30/2025 I contacted Austin at your office around noon after I read your response which was disrespectful and inaccurate. Austin was able to pull up my information and confirm that I am indeed, not "Adam". He said the return team will retest the unit(Email). He also said he would contact you to correct this issue, and that you made a mistake(phone). It is only professional to check your records to ensure you are addressing the intended customer. Also, the fact that you did not offer an apology for mistaking me for another customer shows no class. As a first time customer, the only item I purchased from Accessories4less was a refurbished Yamaha RXA2A A/V receiver on 9/16/2025. When I returned it, I stated everything that was wrong with it in the return email. Any information I forgot was added by Austin(phone) before you received the unit. Everything I said absolutely accurate in terms of the product and my experience with this company. I expect to be treated with common courtesy and respect as a first time customer. Even if your response was not meant for me, for you to actually state that, and I quote, "the only gamble you made was using us as a test lab to see how you like a product" is indicative of the fact that you don't value the concept of exceptional customer service. The way the owner of this company responded to my review, whether it was directed at me or the other customer "Adam", clearly shows that Accessories4less hasn't embraced the concept of professionalism, respect and integrity. If these three concepts are important to any potential customer reading this, I strongly encourage you to...
Read moreThis receiver is great. I recently went full 4K (setup is below) and this deal was one I could not pass up. Having bought three receivers from accessories4less in the past already I came back to buy my forth one. When you receive 3 perfectly working refurbished receivers from a site, you tend to keep coming back.
The AccuEQ setup my speakers at the exact settings as the Audyssey XT did on my previous Marantz receiver. Same crossovers, same distances (within 1 inch!). So don't worry about the negative things said about AccuEQ. Use a tripod or and set the mic in the center sitting position at ear height, if you don't your results will vary. I initially set the mic on boxes but the sound bounces off the boxes and it will mess with your results. This receiver makes my HSU VTF15 sub-woofer sound so much smoother than the Marantz did. The Marantz was pretty harsh in comparison to the RZ820. My Infinity Beta 5.1 setup sounds more alive than ever. The system as a whole has a new life with clarity and separation. All the internal apps have worked as advertised (make sure you get the latest firmware before you do anything with this receiver). The menu system is extremely simplistic as there are only HDMI settings and audio settings, this has zero video adjustments which is great because you shouldn't be adjusting picture settings through a receiver anyway. The remote is bare-bones but does everything you would need it to. I have a Logitech Harmony Elite so I won't be using the included remote anyway. The receiver is pretty big so make sure you measure where it will be sitting before you buy it.
Now to my HDMI cable issue.
My setup: LG OLED65C8PUA, Onkyo RZ820, Apple TV 4K, LG UP970 Blu Ray player, Nvidia Shield 2017, PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and an Audio-technica AT LP120. I went through three sets of different cables for all of my devices before finding the right cable on the 4th try. I bought AudioQuest Sky cables from Best Buy that were $99 a piece, Monoprice cables, and $25 cables from Fry’s Electronics. All the cables claimed to work with 4K UHD content, HDR content, were supposedly certified, were supposedly 18Gbps, and were supposedly HDMI 2.0. That is simply not the case. If you plug them directly into your 4K TV from your 4K component you will probably be okay. If you plug them into the first 2 or 3 ports of your 4K receiver from your 4K component you will probably be okay. If you use them for 1080p you will likely be okay. If you have more than three 4K, HDR, or Dolby Vision devices and have to use HDMI port 4 or higher on your receiver, you will likely be out of luck.
On the recommendation from accessories4less support, I bought Belkin 4K 48Gbps cables from the Apple Store (yeah, I was thinking it would not work either, but I was desperate). When I got the Belkin cables home and tried them with my devices on every port of this receiver they DID NOT cut out. I was in shock.
In addition, the Apple TV 4K has a "check cable" feature, the Belkin Ultra High Speed 4K HDMI cables have been the ONLY cables to pass that test on every HDMI port on this receiver. Every other cable failed the test no matter what port they were plugged into. This has been a full week of constant testing, trial and error, and contacting support from a reseller for the first time in my life. Take my advice, if you are going 4K with this receiver, buy Belkin Ultra High Speed 4K HDMI Cables from the Apple Store as recommended by the splendid support team at accessories4less. When it’s time to upgrade again the receiver will be coming from accessories4less once again! Thanks for the deal and most of all the support and passing along the knowledge of how bad MOST HDMI...
Read moreI've purchased 2 high end Denon receivers from A4L in the past few years and have had only good experiences. Mark, who I believe is the owner, has personally helped me several times with customer service issues and selecting the product I wanted. I will say, once I did get a receiver on an order that had a problem out of the box (it was purchased new so this had nothing to do with the refurb process), and Mark helped me deal with the problem right away. It was years ago so I don't quite remember the circumstances, but they just replaced the entire receiver for me in a timely fashion with a brand new one. This was more than I was hoping for, as I assumed I would have to go through the manufacturer's warranty process. I was happy with the outcome and used the receiver for 3+ eyars before I sold it used. This was an X series model. Over a year later, I encountered another problem with the unit. The factory warranty the unit came with covered everything that was wrong with it. I simply drove it to a repair center nearby (no shipping charges that way) and didn't have to pay a dime to have it full repaired. The repair took a couple weeks, but this was one particular authorized shop in my area so I'm sure that varies. Later I found out, the speaker wires came out of one of my speakers and somehow got crossed while the unit was turned up loud and I blew something. The cause of the damage was my fault technically. In any case, Denon pointed this out to me and still covered the repair for free and just told me to be more careful next time as they can't do a free repair twice for something that I caused. Still, pretty awesome of Denon. Anyway, the warranty is key, and since A4L is an authorized dealer I can confirm everything is legit with them and I have had no hiccups utilizing my warranties. Something to note about this however is they do not appear on Denon's website on the authorized retailer page for some reason, but I have already confirmed they are by going through the repair process. That should probably get updated.
This year, I finally upgraded to a newer model to get my AVR up-to-date with 4K and HDR. I once again worked with Mark on purchasing a new unit. They have been a pleasure to work with in my experience, and my new receiver is up and running and is exactly what I paid for. No buyer's remorse at all, even for a receiver that costs over 1 grand brand new. Except I got it for much less. Great deals here, and also you should consider buying last years model to save some money unless you need a new feature from the current year's lineup. All I needed was 4k/HDR pass through and saved a fortune buying last...
