DECA Commissary Smokey Point — Local services in Arlington

Well, the gas station is still closed. I went there with a veteran and that was a complaint of his but they are just trying to keep costs down. I understand why they think it should be closed but I'm not happy about it nor do I agree. If you fight for your country and get your legs amputated because you stepped on an I.E.D. and need help pumping gas now, you don't have a smiling employee to help you. You don't have me or Kaz, or Linda. You have bureaucracy and no legs. 😡 Well, gas is still fluctuating and I still think it should be cheaper than out in town. Veterans and active duty deserve a break. It just can't be done because the almighty dollar in Virginia, where NEXCOM exists, has to make a few pennies. My friend, shall I call him P,eter, retired a very long time ago. He says that the Commissary has great vegetables. Also, his car has never had problems while running on the gasoline from the Navy Exchange gas station either. Pay attention to the prices. Many items can be found significantly cheaper at Winco which is just ten minutes away. Also, remember there is a 5% surcharge on everything on top of the shelf price. Supposedly, they sell products at their cost. Somebody must be getting their palm greased somewhere in the system. This is not limited to a few items. The DECA Commissary system has a hell of a lot more bulk purchasing power than Winco, yet Winco can and does sell the exact same items for significantly less every day AT A PROFIT.
