Bulk Food Depot — Local services in Athens

We came from North Carolina to visit family in the area and stopped in here. The Bulk Food Depot is on the "must go" list any time we are up in Albany. I likely can't wait that long, so I predict I will be placing some orders for shipment down south much sooner than our next trip north.

This place is incredible. The selection is almost overwhelming, and includes some of the more obscure ingredients that may be hard to find. However, the proprietors are so kind and know exactly what they're doing. No matter your knowledge level about some of the ingredients on offer, you are in quite capable hands here. The products are first quality and very reasonably priced. This is value you can't shake a stick at; and supporting small, local business is so important. What a wonderful find. We drove down from Columbus and the store and owners didn't disappoint. If you want whole foods you can get in bulk this is the stop. The price breaks at different sizes are meaningful and the quality of product is the best I've found in the region.

Being able to buy specialty flour in small quantities or 55lb bags is awesome for the baker and pizza enthusiasts. The bulk spice prices are amazing. Seriously, ask about the by the lb pricing on things like curry and turmeric.

Owners are lovely folks and incredibly helpful. We ended up with three large boxes of nuts, flours, pastas, beans, seeds, buckwheat pancake mixes, and more. All for a price that was incredibly reasonable. Even with the gas to and from it was a great value. Can't wait to go back and see...

I have never come into this store and not left smiling like an idiot like I left with a bag of treasure. The couple who run it are running it are so adorable, the wife is so CUTE and the husband is so adorable- you walk in and one of them immediately asks you if need help finding anything. Their stock? OMG, I love it all so much.. the spices, the grains and so much more- So affordable! And such nice quality and the best in town!

I go out of my way to tell people about them because they're such lovely people and deserve all the word of mouth they get.
