Digger's Treasure Hunt — Local services in Athens

8/21/22 - I decided to stop by on an empty stomach because I saw the food truck outside to find it was shut down due to not enough business. Darn!

For an hour I dug around the various "treasure", actually finding a few items I had on a low priority list, and some others for a decent price like lava lamp bulbs & an as seen on TV earwax removal kit. But stick around long enough and you might find something mis-priced or good for a white elephant gift exchange.

There stuff set outside, piled on racks & indoor shelves of already opened packages are somewhat around retail value. But things like the cast iron fire pit for $60 can be found at Ace or Lowes for no more than $20. Near everything at this closeout store is made with Chineseum, or not expected to last long or was mass produced but never sold like "Trump" & "Brandon" junk.

Finally, I took a chance at the $6 mystery package lottery and got some pricy LED headlights! (Ok, I saw the label had AliExpress on it which means expensive electronics so I knew a bit of what I was looking for. Many good deals and prices, we have bought some of the Amazon packages too. They have you rest out the item on the spot in order to make sure it works. We’ve been a few times for the mystery packages and it’s hit or miss on what you get. A lot of weird mobile phones cases, so be weary about packages in that size range. If you buy the $6 package option that allows you a second choice if you don’t like the first one, your first package get taped back up and thrown in the bin again. So beware of packages with abundant amounts of packing tape, they’re probably ones that’s already been seen and thrown back...
