The Pond - Ice Rink & Sports Complex — Local services in Auburn Township

I’m not from the area, but I was in town and had my skates with me so I decided to give a freestyle session at The Pond a try. The facility seems like a cool place to hang out and has a ‘mom and pop’ type feel. I wasn’t too happy with the ice quality, however. It had JUST been resurfaced right before the session, I watched the zamboni do its thing, however the ice was completely gauged up. I’m assuming this is from some rough hockey sessions— some of the gauges were a good foot long and a quarter inch deep! It made it challenging to spin effectively, and felt like I was skating on an outdoor pond (no pun intended) as opposed to a freshly resurfaced sheet. Can’t say enough great things about The Pond!! We had a family member get engaged there last week. They went above and beyond to make it really special! The room was clean with plenty of space, we had easy set up, they stayed open late, always checking in to help and offer suggestions, and were overall very accommodating! This place is truly amazing! The community, the people, the staff are all excellent. The ice is great, and the people who cut it do a wonderful job. They recently added a game room. There are many fun games to play. They have a beer league for all leveled players. They have a great selection of pickups for adults and children.
