Why are there no fresh, or even just frozen, vegetables? It's a vegetarian and vegan store. There's a vast focus on soy based products, which isn't a bad thing in itself. Fried tofu is delicious. But I wouldn't say the store caters to vegetarians or vegans. It seems to cater extensively to a community that wants meat, but can't eat meat due to the Adventist religious code of conduct. So in answer to that need, the store supplies a huge array of plant material shaped and textured to resemble meat. Other than that, there is little else it offers. Not even canned veggies or fruits, aside from a few jars of low sugar peach jam and a few cans of peas.
The store needs at least basic vegetarian fare. Potatoes, carrots, corn, tomatoes, apples, pears, just to name a few. I've been told by the employees that no one buys these things, but I find that hard to believe. At least the food I've listed are staples of what Americans eat daily. If they incorporated these staples into the store, that would be greatly beneficial and approved of by the small community...
