Today was my first experience at Blackie's but it wasnt the first time for my husband. He knows many of the great local spots in Lewiston & Auburn. We were able to get our family Christmas tree as well as pick up my mom's Christmas kissing ball. Once inside the building where you pay, I found the most amazing fresh fruits and vegetables. Their prices were amazing too. The Christmas trees cost between $30 to $35 and the Christmas balls were 19.90. The products we purchased cucumbers, pears, a pineapple, carrots, celery, beets, ran from 2 /1.00, 2/1.29 2bags/2.00 up to 1.49 a package or a pound. The produce looked amazing as were the prices. But our fabulous experience didnt end there. The young man whom trimmed the trunk of our tree to the height we requested, place it in our truck as the sweet, cheerfully cashier swiftly rang us up, all while we enjoyed small talk together. From the winter birds, to the beautiful selection of trees and fresh produce they had available. We couldnt have had a better experience today. Do if you are looking for that perfect fresh christmas tree or some amazing fresh produce, I highly recommend going to Blackies! I know, I will be sharing this local hidden gem with my family...
Read moreI usually love going to my local farmers stand but today, I could not WAIT to get out of there. Three young girls were working there today; a really tiny girl, a stalkier girl, and a taller girl. The taller girl was screaming at a woman of another color from what was seemingly an obvious communication barrier. This woman was just trying to buy potatos. The employee yelled at her in a berating tone to the point the woman bought no potatoes and quickly left. I made sure to let the employee know how unacceptable her customer service skills were and that I would be contacting her employer. If she doesn't get fired for that, I will spread the word of how racist a company you all are. And should I go back and see this horrible person working there, I will take my...
Read moreGenerally good quality produce at prices better than local supermarkets. I just wish they would identify the source of all of their produce. There are relatively few items that have label as to where they are grown. A more recent visit in Spring 2024 demonstrated considerable change from years ago. The place has gone "upscale" following a major renovation and expansion. They no longer feature "generally good quality produce at prices better than local supermarkets". They now carry a variety of "specialty products", packaged and bottled items, that are quite pricey. Their produce is now average quality and price compared to other grocery stores in the area, and few bargains...
