Everything was great at first. We were getting our books, the kids were playing in the play room at the store, but then one of our children had accidentally tore open a toy box that was by the child’s play room. The issue wasn’t having to pay for the toy, that was no problem. The problem was the ladies attitude when this had happened.
She proceeded to say that the child was in a “mood” and if she’s going to be that way, then maybe a parent should stay around her so she doesn’t do that again. Our child is autistic, and doesn’t know better. We mentioned this, and then she proceeded to say “oh, I didn’t mean to say a mood”. After this she kept repeating “well, y’all are going to have to pay for it” which was no issue, but like I had stated it was the attitude she had. Once at the register, she had mentioned that COVID had killed her business and she’s still paying off a $50,000 loan on her business. This had no relevance to us, and that’s her issue behind the scene, not ours.
Suggestion: If your business is hurting so much that a $20 toy is killing your business, maybe giving a book away for free to each person that walks through the store isn’t...
Read moreWe have lived here for about a year now and hadn't made it in to the bookstore yet. Yesterday we finally made the time to stop in and take a look around. Susan...wow! I don't think I have ever met someone so full of life and so happy to be doing what she's doing. Her whole personality and attitude is contagious in the best way. She is so kind and friendly, and gives you all of the information about her store. She told us her store donated 25,000 books last year! It was mind blowing the way she gives to others the gifts of books in a world that is so focused on technology. What's even more amazing is when you go in, she gives you a free book! I was so excited! The way she took the time to talk to my husband as well was wonderful, he's a recent amputee due to injuries from when he was in the military. She not only was interested in his story you could tell she just genuinely cared about him and what had happened. To her he's a stranger but that didn't matter to her. It was so heartwarming! This store, and Susan, are truly a wonderful gift to this community. I can't wait...
