Took me a while to decide if I wanted to go to this school for their automotive trade school program and if you are trying to decide too then let me make it simple for you.. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! They are EXTREMELY sexist to the female students. I took 4 classes with 4 different teachers for my first semester because that’s what the advisor ADVISED I do so. Well when I show up to my engine repair and rebuilding class and they say it’s only for people who have already taken electrical and steering and suspension class. Of course that doesn’t mean I get my money back, so I try to hang in the classes anyways. I am not from Austin so before I even attended this school I scheduled a tour with the man who runs the whole automotive school. Well he never showed up to our scheduled tour. When I called him to tell him I was waiting on him he told me he was busy at another location and never even came. A teacher then saw my distress and tried to tour the place for me explaining how there is never homework, class will mostly be held in the shop working which sounded PERFECT! But it was far from it and I learned that fast my first week attending school. These teachers are very unprofessional, rude, and the definition of the word sexist itself. They don’t have any background in psychology so their teaching skills are very slim. Just a bunch of old guys who complain about the generations after them and if you don’t understand their way it’s the highway. I have had a teacher come up to me and ask in front of the class “so why are you even interested in these classes? Do you actually want to be in this field?.” I replied “yes I’ve had a love for cars and building my whole life” and he laughed in front of the class and said “well there’s a jewelry making class down the hall maybe you ought to try that out.” I was confused because I really wasn’t doing bad in all of my classes even though I was doing twice the work and two of my classes were supposed to be for people who have already taken the entry level classes. He made me run out of the classroom crying that day because he embarrassed me in front of the whole class for no reason. Don’t believe them when they tell you most of your time you’ll be in a shop learning because it’s all reading and doing all the hard learning for homework by yourself. I did all my homework and showed up early to ask a few questions to a teacher since I spent the whole night trying to YouTube my answer. You know what this prick said to me? “I don’t think automotives comes natural to you”.. well you know what? Knowing how to work on cars doesnt “come natural” to anybody, you have to learn. I don’t think teaching came natural to him. The white old man who claims He is ex-millitary actually never served and lies about it to his classes. He tops the cake. This ass wipe noticed I came to school with a helmet and asked if he could see my bike. I said sure!(Hoping I could impress a teacher) I brought my Yamaha r6 in and he took the class with him to look at it. Well he was walking back around the bike pointing out every little thing wrong with it like saying “the last guy who’s painted this obviously knows nothing.” Another’s student walked in to see my bike and said “wow you know she learned How to ride in a week and bought this herself? That’s badass!” The teacher replied “that’s not badass that’s stupid” he grabbed my helmet out of my hands and TORE my padding out of my helmet and said “looks like you need a new helmet too” laughed and walked away in his truck and drove off before I could explain to him that he just damaged my personal possessions. I had to throw away my new helmet I bought with the little money I did have because the foam padding was ripped out and particles of the foam was flying in my eyes when I tried to ride with it. I wish I could sit here and type out what they put another female student through that had classes with me. She’s actually complained to the school about the teachers but nothing was done. So in conclusion, Dont Give your time and money...
Read moreI have been going to Austin community College part time for 6 years. I have finished the motorcycle repair program, the personal trainer program, and have been working on my business degree ....I am retired now.. so I take classes that i want to take to keep my mind working and learn things I simply want to know. I would recommend acc to anyone ..i have never had a bad experience there to speak of. The staff has always been knowledgeable and competent. If I had one complaint it is if you are not in their atxable area the cost difference is enormous and there are many areas in travis county that are not in the tax area ....I pay 268 a semester hour. And i live in travis county just not in their tax district. were others in the tax area pay 68 a semester hour. So it would defently be worth looking into where you are in their district maps...however they have a very large district map that covers large areas of austin and...
