This is a beautiful course that you should definitely make time for if you're staying at the Omni Barton Creek.
If you're not a member, however, be warned that they have some unfriendly, entitled people you may run into. We were playing on an over-crowded Saturday and after having a group keep hitting closely to us from behind, we finally yelled back when a young man teed into the 9th green before we even pulled away to the next tee.
The kid's mom chased us down to confront us for saying something. Among her choice words were "this is MY course" - "My son is a PGA Jr. player - ARE YOU?" (note - I'm 47, so clearly I'M NOT) - "he wasn't going to HIT YOU" (not the point) - but the creme de la creme was when she called me a "re**rd." In front of her clearly embarrassed son. While her husband, in the other cart, was nowhere to be seen, presumably also embarrassed to be married to a woman like this.
The round took five hours - at about the 11th hole there a single young man who pulled up with his mom who was riding along. We encouraged him to tee off us with on a par 3 just for fun, and they took it upon themselves to join us as a 5-some for the rest of the round. It wasn't the best experience, considering the cost of the round.
Finally, with it being a PAINFULLY slow round, we drove past a couple rangers on the 12th and asked "any chance the pace of play is going to pick up?" One of them smiled at me and said "hopefully!" Hopefully? I thought that was their job to ensure it would...

If you’re serious about improving your golf game, start with a fitting with Bobby Dean — you’ll be amazed at...
Read moreGreat course layout but in horrible shape. Course is torn up all over the place with sod patches being out down and stripped areas of the fairway and tee boxes that are complete dirt. Greens are in good shape but not as good as Crenshaw course. At $300 this place is a joke. In perfect condition it would be well worth that price but currently It should be about $125. Very disappointing! I would avoid this one until they get...
