-The fire alarms going off thrice a week when people have small children , babies , and dogs —it is getting old. especially when some of us get up for work at 5 am and the alarms go off at 1, 2 , and even 4am. I had a friend visiting and she had to be up at 4am for her flight of course the alarms go off at 2am and startle her so badly she almost had a panic attack. I feel so sorry for the residents with children.
-Management constantly sends accusatory email blasts to the community rather than taking accountability for anything or solving the source of the issue. It’s extremely dangerous considering this is towards west and there’s heightened risk for an actual fire, and no one will know which alarm is real. I will likely ask around to see if there is any legal action that can be taken.
-I’ve seen black widows in the bushes by the doors outside and scorpions (indoors ) on the ground floor and all my Emails have been ignored. (Took photos )
-Management was really kind and accommodating when I was locked out, but I wish they told us alternative methods to get in when we got our keys during move in. When I moved in a couple months ago I was never informed of the codes when I asked what happens if you lose your phone or it’s broken etc (maybe that leasing agent did not know of the dial safe method yet)
Chauncey , teddy, jasmine, and our security officer on site are awesome though
7/12/25 edit after move out.
the dog park was advertised as fully usable to enjoy and I assumed that was part of the high amenity fee, however the dog park is unusable and still unfit for completely safe play— unless your dog is extra tall and can walkthrough the grass. It is so over grown the grass is as tall as trees and a few residents told me to avoid it because they have spotted snakes within it.
-my toilet exploded randomly while I was at work. I came back to an insane loudly rushing pulsating sound and the lid almost flipped off. It was due to someone fixing a service request for a loud flush I had put in the last week incorrectly.
-my neighbors ac went out a couple months ago
-ensure to always have you phone on your or charged. Some of the community back up codes don’t work so if your phone dies you’re stuck. I went in one elevator entrance and it was out of service (they did not put a sign on the door outside just the actually elevator once you get in) I was going to quickly get to the 2nd floor since my phone was about to die since that community code usually works. My phone died and I was trapped in a small square space between the elevator and door since the codes wouldn’t work for that door. I yelled and banged on the door and luckily someone who lived on the first floor let me out after a few minutes.
-the elevator was out of service for half my time here to the point where it was worrying to use after repair. There were signs saying “do not wait in the door way or elevator will stall” what if you are carrying something heavy? Or pushing a cart through.
The misconfigured fire alarms temporarily stopped then resumed again in May.
-the stairwells and hallways were filthy in many areas —— Kenyatta is very helpful. The security officer on site is amazing, and Teddy from the maintenance team is really great!
The community is beautiful and has a modern feel with spacious apartments, but definitely be cautious of a few things. Hopefully things will improve as this new...
Read moreEdit: Despite the response from the markson the issues are not being addressed. The same person who messed up my lease transfer messed up my paid parking spot and almost caused my car to be towed. I signed my contract to pay $75/month extra (since the guest parking is unreasonable) at the end of August. I signed the contract for spot 3 and was told verbally spot 3 was mine. I had my car even parked there for over a week while on a roadtrip with no issues. About a month later I saw someone parked there thinking they were there improperly and almost had them towed but dropped it. The next day I park in my spot and come out to a note saying that’s their spot and they would tow if not moved in a certain time. Kenyatta explained on the phone she messed up and sent me new paperwork to sign (wrong form again) I went to the office and they gave me the correct form but I had to be the one to move spots to a much less convenient one even though I’m pretty sure I had it first since I had been parked for a long period of time and was the one being inconvenienced. The property still has dog waste issues and constant trash overflow in massive piles.
Have lived at this complex for a year and 4 months I originally lived in a small unit and they tried to increase my rent even though bigger units were going to around $250 less than my old unit (when they listed my old unit it was wayyyy less than what I was paying even tho they tried to increase my rent lol). Because of this I decided to transfer to a new unit that was much larger and much cheaper why not save money? I started the transfer process in person at the leasing office I believe around two months before my move date, plenty of time right? Not for the Markson. I proceeded to go into the leasing office in person 3 times to sign paperwork and gave my employer info to validate my income 5+ times and was not done until my move in date. The stress of furniture delivery and movers being scheduled with no lease in hand and having to follow up with them while dealing with working full time is a lot. It finally got escalated to the district manager who was nice and gave me a discount but nothing they could do to get me a lease in time. I ended up being able to move in 4 days late and I was glad I got the discount in writing because the leasing office had no idea and had to redo my lease 3 times. I emailed them my info on updated renters insurance and utility account info and told them on the phone it wouldn’t be changing but still got a phone call days later asking to confirm again haha. I noticed months later that I never got access removed from my digital lock login for my old apartment, concerning since someone else moved into my old unit… what people say about the state of the property and unleashed dogs is true. And when I moved in I asked about guest parking which was super flexible which was a selling point but now guests have to park on the roof of the parking garage (my building isn’t even connected to the garage) and a guest can only visit 7 times a month. Hope you don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend that doesn’t live with you yet because the markson says they can only visit 7 times a month! That was the cherry on top for me being 100% sure I won’t...
Read moreReasons why this place has been a nightmare for me and I will not be renewing my lease like many other residents who literally hate this place as much as I do: Mold growing on the back of my cabinets took over a month to replace. Had many contractors come in and actually mess up the cabinets “trying to fix it” but actually had no training to come in and do so. The staff just let anyone come in and try to fix it. Water leaks throughout the buildings and my apartment floor although I am on the fourth story. When it rained hard enough water came through the door because it wasn’t sealed properly during construction and caused water damage to the trim and soaked my carpet in my living room. Fire ants coming out of my carpet and my bathroom tile grout. The bathroom tile which is cracking in multiple places where there are holes.. The dog park is not taking care of, and there is an abundance of overgrowth vegetation, which makes it hard to track if there are any coyotes out or snakes when you go through the area. venomous snakes everywhere. which there are items like snake away, which you can get at Home Depot to deter the reptiles from coming on the premise. The office is aware of this, but chooses not to invest in things that would actually better that experience here for not only the residents but residents with pets. The door to my building has been broken for over a month which we have to supplement with a rock to keep it slightly a jar and anybody can just walk in. When the doors closed, all you have to do is just pull it and the door unlocked with little to no force. Consistent fire alarms, going off periodically not only throughout the week but throughout my entire duration here which has been six months. Lazy staff that’s combative and does not understand Customer service. And I’m not talking about Chauncey or Jasmine (there are wonderful) everyone else is lackluster. Who ever is running this place is running it into the ground. Surely NRP group sees this but does nothing to mitigate the below average experience for residents. The affordable housing program is a joke, which actually isn’t very affordable when you take into account that there is no discount on your rent. You will only be increased in your rent during renewal up to 3%, is the only benefit of affordable housing at the markson. Not to mention that my electricity bill is over $100 when I keep my apartment at 74° and my water bill is close to $100 as well when I shower every other day…I live in a 1b 1b Moss growing on the outside of building one because of a consistent water leak. Rained really hard in July from a storm, and all the water fell through the attic onto the fourth floor in building two where it then went down the walls and severely caused water damage to the drywall. if you were in a wheelchair, you’ll have a hard time navigating the complex as most of the elevators are broken for a long period of time up to 2 to 3 weeks and there is overgrowth of trees and shrubbery that cover the sidewalk making it hard to navigate through. The bike rack is easy to break into apparently has been broken into multiple times having peoples property stolen without notification from...
