The tours they have for the casino are only 2 times a day. When I was there my group and I were not able to make the specific times. We were a bit disappointed upon realizing they only do tours at specific times but the disappointment lifted immediately when we saw the water. We decided to do snorkeling because the waters are just so clear and beautiful. There are so many fish to see. In order to enter the water you have to walk down concrete steps. The bottom steps are covered with moss so you have to make sure to hold on to the railing so as to not fall in. Once we were in the water, fish surrounded us and it was amazing! We snorkeled and swam for several hours before having to get out to catch our bus to...

Great diving for beginners or experts. Always lots to see - a giant black sea bass swam right up to me on Saturday. Kelp forests, wrecks, lots of rocky structure to explore, tons of sea life, great visibility, and the Jacques Cousteau underwater plaque. Easy entry and exit with the stairs. So much easier than a dive boat for testing and refining gear configuration. East to get here on the Catalina Express, and lots of places to eat and drink after diving before going home. Great for a day or a weekend, and air fills are available on site. Nearby gear rental if you forget something or don't have your own dive...

Nice dive park, if a little small. Can get crowded.

Wish the folks leading dive/snorkel tours wouldn't feed the fish. I realize it excites the tourists, which are the island's bread and butter, but it also encourages unnatural behavior in the sea life that people are here to see. Frankly it's irresponsible.

I don't know if there are laws in place that are being broken, but there should be. And there should be enforcement. The honour system is not good enough with some operators. Be sure to choose a responsible company when shopping for any guided trips.

Sorry about the lecture, I'll get off...

Great place to spend time while in Avalon. Snorkeling, SCUBA, and a lot of Garibaldi orange fish. Great opportunity to take good underwater footage, pretty easy for SCUBA, enjoyable for snorkeling, but sometimes the currents can be strong. Rentals for SCUBA or snorkeling gear is sort of pricey, as should be since one pays for the convenience. If you have your own SCUBA gear bring it, just rent the tank. You can have your SCUBA equipment transported from the harbor to the casino. Overall, a great place, and a lot of nice people around.

Best dive spot in Southern California! Took my friend here visiting from South Carolina and he was fascinated by the Kelps Forrest and the clear visibility. It’s also very convenient transiting to the dive spot, really close to get your tank fill and plenty of choices to eat/drink after the dives at the island. We commute through Catalina Express departed out in Long Beach 6 and finished the day with 3 dives. I highly recommend visiting this spot.
