This is a very good location and it’s also the only location in the area. It’s a very safe rest stop and the bathrooms are always clean. They have soap and water and I do have one question if anybody reads up on it I have a 20 year old cat that has never jumped out of the car before, but he jumped out of the car without us, knowing it at about midnight on 10 October 2022 he’s a brown 20 year old cat love of my life and we went right back up there to see if we could find him. I’m hoping that a trucker took him and he’s taking good care of them again he’s 20 years old has two teeth and I hope someone that has a truck reads this because I don’t know what else to do but getting back to the rest stop they have cold drinks. The bathrooms are spotless you’re safe at any time, the truckers have their own section and the place is very clean. There’s a place to walk your dog and I highly recommend it because there aren’t that many stops. And there’s picnic...

I honestly can't understand what they were thinking when they installed the urinals this high at Coalinga/Avenal Southbound Rest Area. Is it their way of saying "Don't use them"? The only urinal that was installed lower—presumably for kids—is covered with a trash bag, making it unusable. Even when the line for the men's restroom stretches outside, there's always one stall that remains closed every time I visit. I've stopped by this rest area four times just this year, and every time, it's the same story—one bathroom closed, as if convenience for travelers doesn’t matter, only their own ease of maintenance. Out of all the rest area bathrooms I've used, this is by...

I mean I don't think this is different from most of the rest stops but yes the restrooms were a little dirty with trash on the floor or dirty toilet seats of course but I feel that that is kind of the norm for a lot of rest stops. One thing I wish is that the soap dispensers would be kept full that way you can at least wash your hands really really well before getting back on the road but when there's no soap well you get the idea. The area was nice and picked up in the pet area well marked and had an ample supply of poop bags and the trash bins we're not overflowing or anything so...

Bathrooms were dirty and had no toilet paper plus there was a long line to use the restroom. The only good thing is that you can tell they were going to clean it already because one side of the restrooms was closed and there was someone inside cleaning it. This rest area has vending machines and they were also stocking them up 👍🏼 so it shows something was being done to clean the facilities and have it well stocked 👏🏼it also had pet areas.

It has plenty of space to stretch your legs and walk around a bit. Others mentioned that it doesn't have a whole lot of shade, which will be a problem on a hot day. Plenty of vending machines if you want a snack or drink. Restrooms are what you expect from a rest area. It has a nice view and plenty of opportunities for photographers. This was around 10 in the morning.
