Experience was around 3 stars, but due to folks not reading entire reviews, wanted to give 4 stars all around as to not to bring rating down too much - because it probably is the nicest park in Monmouth/Ocean counties. We will likely be back.
Notes: dump station doesn't have a hose, make sure you have one. (They have free honey wagon svc, but if you need to get out of there, it's on the slow side). many rigs will need to back in to the dump station, check it out first for sure. if your site has cable, coax cable won't cut it; make sure office gives you cable box.
Pro's: Mostly friendly staff they pick up garbage and recycling daily from your site. no sewer, but free honey wagon service. clean, well kept park overall; camp sites are in good condition. nice office store. location to LBI and parkway entrances couldn't be better.
Cons: spaces are very, very close. due to the above, sound travels insanely well, even at a dull roar. Further to above, quiet hours are not enforced, so if your neighbors are carrying on, and you want your beauty rest, better shut your windows. (Hrs are 11 pm to 8 am; both nights are neighbors were decently loud until almost midnight) signage at night not well lit.
All of this said, our experience was a three because upon our arrival at night time, we were checked in and not given a packet with info on the grounds, nothing with our space number, the required cable box if you want to get what you paid for, or wifi password. We weren't offered assistance to find our space in the dark, and when i asked for assistance, was told I'd be fine. I was walked outside and was given directions from the porch of the office, not even provided a map. I had to ask for that. Road weary, we looked around in pitch black and finally called the office to assist. Someone in a golf cart arrived in seconds; no clue why my request the first time was passed over. Next day stopped in for wifi password - no one waa perplexed why i needed it. Later that day stopped in to find out why we were getting one channel; came to find out no one gave us a box. I was apologized to that we didn't receive anything we should have gotten at check in, but "we can't watch everyone all of the time, and it might have been really busy.". We were the only people checking in, and i had interrupted her from seemingly nothing.
Either way, the pro's outweigh the cons, and you probably won't find a nicer place near the beach if you tried, so go in knowing you might hit some snags, but if you read up to this point, you should be good to go....
Read moreThis was definitely a wonderful campground to stay at. Very family oriented, quiet, and while we stayed Sunday-Friday there was no riff raft at all. Close to the beach, and not far at all from Walmarts, shoprites, wawas liquor stores etc. which made traveling with 3 kids very accommodating. The bathrooms/showers were very clean considering how many people frequent them, and they even provide bottled water to brush your teeth with that I thought was a nice touch. My family stayed at the tent sites, and everyone was incredibly helpful, kind, and welcoming. Linda and Janet from the moment of check in were super helpful, informative, and sometimes Iâd go up in the morning for fresh coffee just or say good morning! They have people who can deliver ice and firewood to your site for you, pick up the trash bags from your site, pool games for the kids, and if your lucky youâll get to meet Frank the custodian, his conversations and stories are so worth getting to know him. Wish we got to know him more before our last night there, but weâre surely glad he stopped by. He was such a pleasure to meet and talk with, and was such an angel to my kids with nothing but Wonderful things to say about my son Ben as well as any others kids. Such a kind man, most members of my camping party met him At all different spots in the campground, and all had wonderful things to say about him. Truly a gem to sun retreats. Linda, Janet, Frank, and anyone else whoâs helped welcome us thank you. My family and I have spent many summers looking for the right campground to frequent, and we finally found where weâll be going for every family vacation from now on. Thank you all for your generosity, and kindness! If you and your family are looking for a great place to take your family, I highly recommend sun...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, this is 100% the place to camp!!!! Clean, quiet, and absolutely wonderful staff! And they are following safety precautions very very closely! My boyfriend and I decided last minute, to take a two night camping trip together, without the kids. We reserved a tent spot and planned to be there by 2pm. Well, things got kind of nuts at home, and we wound up leaving home a lot later than we anticipated. So I called to make sure it was still okay for us to come so Late. The girl that answered the phone, was super helpful and told us to drive safely, and that sheâd make sure she was there to help when we got there. (Our arrival time put us at 8:10pm, and the office closes at 8pm, so she stayed late to wait for us.) When we got there, it was easy to navigate to the office, and even easier to check in. We ordered some wood (we are out of state, so we didnât bring wood) which was only $15 for 22 pieces, and it was delivered to our site about 20 minutes later! (They actually gave us 29 pieces) The bathrooms are immaculate. Not like the normal camp site experience with the bathrooms that remind you of a middle of nowhere truck stop bathroom that hasnât been cleaned in months. And the showers were great too! Super clean and free of debris. The site was large and clean, and had plenty of shade. It also had electricity hookup and a hose with clean water. Itâs nice and quiet after 10pm, and even before that, itâs not too loud. Mostly kids having a good time, and birds. The mini golf area is adorable. And even though the pool was closed, it looked so refreshing. We had such a wonderful time, we decided to book another trip, for next weekend with the kids! We cannot wait to go back! Two...
