Disappointing experience!!! We drove for almost three hours from Boston to this place, but our activity was abruptly cancelled and we were forced to receive a refund after only a few minutes of starting because two of our group members fell behind. The owner claimed that they had cancelled all beginner activities for the day due to weather conditions (without any prior notification and that was a lie). However, when we argued with the front desk, pointing out that we had come for fun and that their website advertised the activity as beginner-friendly with guides, the owner told us that our performance as beginners was not good enough to participate. It was completely absurd! We had come there to enjoy ourselves, not to take a motorcycle license exam. The experience was a huge disappointment, and our day was completely ruined.
Btw, we were paired with 3 experienced drivers, and one of them complained loudly to the guide that she didn't want to wait for us and that the experience was not fun at all. The guide then told us he would arrange for another guide to take us four separately, which he claimed would make us both happy. However, after we went down the mountain, a bus came to take us back to the establishment, and that's when we found out that our tour had been cancelled without any notification or explanation. It was a huge letdown.
We had to pay a 6% forest use fee and $15 for motorcycle insurance (if we didn't pay, we had to leave a $1000 deposit), and there was a cancellation fee if we cancelled the reservation. On top of that, we had to tip the guide $10-50 per person. It was almost $200 per person, and we were treated like this....
Read moreMy husband and I had the pleasure of taking a snowmobile tour this past weekend with Ian and Mike. I was super anxious about the experience mostly around having to wear a helmet. As someone who is claustrophobic, the idea of something fitted around my head and my face was, scary. Luckily the entire team was super supportive and super accommodating and helped find a helmet that fit perfectly for me.
I was really impressed with the plethora of gear that was available to rent for guests. I was also really impressed by the size inclusivity of their rentals. I saw up to sizes 4xl in pants and jackets, boots up to size 14.
The tour left promptly at 11:45. Ian and Mike both gave us a crash course into the basics of operating the snowmobile And were super patient as People asked clarifying questions. Because our group was large, Ian and Mike split us up into two smaller groups. As someone who loves visiting the white mountains in the summer and the fall, I’m always frustrated by the amount of tourists and cars in The park. So it was incredibly special to Visit the park and Feel like we were the only people There. Throughout the tour, Ian constantly checked-in on the team and made sure we were all doing well, He pulled over two or three times to show certain areas, but because it was mostly cloudy and overcast, our views were Hidden behind the clouds.
All in all, we had a phenomenal experience and this was the highlight of our trip to the White mountains. We will eagerly recommend northern extreme snowmobile to our family and friends, and look forward to our next...
Read moreEverything was good until we realized we had a literal turtle, disguised as a tourist from New Jersey, as a participant, put in the #2 position by the guide, on our tour. This turtle, ahem tourist, would not go over 10 mph (she topped out at 10, but mostly went around 5mph, not exaggerating!). So needless to say, the first 2 hours of our tour were super lame and felt like a funeral procession.
After our tour was halfway over, the guide finally provided us with some relief by reversing the order and putting the turtle in the back. The final 2 hours of the tour were amazing!!! We cruised 30mph through the heart of the national forest, not braking at every slight curve in the road! We did stop occasionally to wait for the turtle, but it was amazing not having to pretend we were mourners at an Arctic funeral!!!
I understand that it’s difficult to deal with the public and varying ability levels, but they really need to do something about this. We have been on similar tours in the past at different locations and they usually ask in the beginning of the tour who wants to go fast and who wants to go slow. They then will put the fast people at the front with the leading guide and slower people in back with the trailing guide. This works best for everyone and everyone is happy. I wouldn’t recommend this tour to anyone until they fix these issues. The guides and all staff were great but the operation needs to...
