Great track with a nice facility. I started going to this track in 2005 and fell in love with it. There have been a ton of substantial updates made to the facilities and the track is almost always smooth and fast. The racing is competitive and mad fast. I will say that I moved away and haven't been there in years until recently. The track ownership has changed hands and I can see a change. Some good. Some bad. Some indifferent changes as well.
My biggest take away from my recent visit was the food. It sucked. Zero flavor and everything tasted like crap. My family had a little bit of everything and it all was terrible. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, frito chili pie, and a pretzel. The hamburgers lacked seasoning and you can buy one at McDonalds and it would be better and cheaper. The hot dog had a dried out bun on one end and it was soggy on the other. Nachos were fine I guess but not worth the $4 I paid for them. Tasted like the jarred cheese sauce you can buy at the store. Same goes for the frito pie.
Most of the bathrooms had little to no toilet paper in the stalls and this was BEFORE the races even started.
However, we did run into John Allen as the races were ending and he told us thank you for coming and that he hoped we had a good time. Thats not something you see very often from an owner/promoter. That was very impressive. Thank you Humboldt Speedway for still trying to bring in the big shows/racing programs to SEK. See you in October for the WoO...
Read moreThis is one of those locations where the term Redneck is a term of endearment. Anyone who enjoys close up racing is bound to have a good time. Anyone and everyone is welcome here. Whether you are a gear-head or not, the racing is compelling to watch. The small town feel is classic Americana, and folks are friendly. I prefer small town racing, where drivers and crews work regular jobs and then race on the weekends. It is the same community feel when the town cheers on a local High School football team. I live in Texas where we have big money racing, but Humboldt is one of my favorite destinations; hard working Americans come together to support members of their communities, and are rewarded with spectacular racing, at a facility is fan friendly. My only knock of the Humboldt Speedway is that I am a disabled veteran, and the bleacher seating can get hard on the backside and low back. Take a seat cushion, your rump...

When there is a large event like this side concessions would be good to allow everyone to see the entire event. Some family members stood in line for food for the first 45 minutes of the main event. They had full access passes for 11 a.m., did the rides, etc. But then waited a long time for food.
Extra bleachers would have helped also for large groups to find seating together.
This was a...
