I live six minutes away, and have been coming here for years ever since it opened. Which was a big relief, considering I used to travel to Leesville for one item.
Most of the time it has the essentials that I need, including stuff like detergent, toilet paper, and paper towels. Bread gets gone in no time, and so people have to wait until the truck comes there. People got annoyed when they started to run out of things with 4th of July. It's not their fault, the truck comes in with the amount the store can hold. Obviously they can't make the truck come there to please customers.
The truck runs on a schedule.
Staff is friendly, however there is one worker who doesn't seem to enjoy working there. He'll tell people that he's tired, something that he's even told me. He has a bit of an attitude, but it's something I simply brush off. As long as I get my items, I don't complain.
I want to bring up some things that I see in the reviews:
No one at the register: Usually that's because it's certain times of the day when it's pretty much dead. Someone can't stand at the counter constantly, and they do have other things to do like stocking. I patiently wait for someone to come to the counter, and don't complain. If you're in a hurry simply place your items on the counter, and find them. The staff will gladly help you.
Most importantly, they are human after all. They need to go to the bathroom, and must go. Someone I know who worked there got a UTI because she had to wait to go with all the customers.
Carts with stuff: If you've been coming here for years, know that only two people work there most of the time. On days where they get a lot of customers, they can only do a little bit of stocking. They do their best, please give them credit for that.
Lastly if there is someone is in the break room, they're not allowed to help or check anyone out. I'm sure a lot of people don't want to be interrupted on their...
Read moreWent in today for milk, paper towels, and nail polish remover. Got the milk and paper towels just fine. The entire wall of nail stuff and makeup was cleared off the shelves (I'm guessing for a remodel) and all the boxes were in the corner behind the register. I asked the cashier if they sold nail polosh remover and she said yes. I asked if there was any way I could buy a bottle and her only response was "No, its buried in boxes over there." At this point my only reaction was to stare at her in disbelief. I was the only customer at checkout. No one was in line. Just me. How lazy do you have to be to basically tell your only customer they can't buy something because you don't feel like walking 10 feet to take it out of a box? Lazy, entitled employees with absolutely no regard for customer service. Save yourself the trouble and go...
Read moreBecause we live out on the lake in a rather rural area the old Dollar General has become our regular haunt. When we first moved here I was skeptical but overall I'm pretty pleased and they carry most items we need.
Update - 6-20-2021, I have seen so many personnel at this particular store come and go it is ridiculous. They really have a hard time keeping some items stocked on the shelves and the finger of blame seems to point to poor management by the district manager. Employee morale is at an all time low and these people need some help. One example is the front door closer has been broken for at least a month and it still slams shut...
