The Detroit of Beaufort grocery stores! This is one of the sketchiest grocery stores I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.
The first thing you notice pulling into the parking lot is the sheer amount of cars in the back and sides, most likley making illegal business transactions, and I am not talking about selling gospel CDs out of the trunk (that's Walmart)
As I walk from the parking lot to the front, I see a guy smoking a joint (I know what weed smells like dude you ain't slick) I have to enter through the left side because the right hand door hasn't worked since 2010. I am greeted by a Huge Bouncer who should be working at a bar in Savannah, instead theft prevention in a grocery store really?!?
There are typically about 12 people waiting in line for scratch off tickets and they are the only people in the store. There is a whole section of refrigerators for malt liquor and beer, the only other section that compares in diversity is the wine section....
I have been to grocery stores where the keep razor blades behind anti-theft plastic, that you need an employee to open. They are expensive and small, easy to steal. This is the only store I have ever been to where they shower gel, liquid soap behind anti-theft plastic. What?!? Why are people stealing soap? Also, just let them have it.
Overall, good prices, great deals, once you get over the confusing layout and oddly grouped sections (got to make room for a that alcohol) it's...
Read moreThe employees are pleasant, but they do not understand how the Primo water bottle deposit/rebate return system works. Their Primo bottle return unit is out of service and doesn’t print the return bottle rebate tickets, so when I went to both the cashier and customer service to return the empty bottles I was instead charged $6.99 for returning the empty bottles instead of getting the rebate. I was charged $45 for returning 2 empties and buying 2 full bottles for what should have been $16 total. I tried to correct and it explain the error to a cashier, a manager, and finally a store owner before money was indeed refunded, but they still didn’t understand what was happening because the manager ended up giving me back too much money. She refunded me $29 instead of just $14 or 2 empty water bottle deposit rebates ($6.99 x 2) but by that point I was so tired of explaining how an empty bottle rebate worked that I just left. To avoid this headache in the future I will be paying a little more to have residential water delivery and will likely avoid shopping here for other items...
Read moreNormally love shopping here but today had an awful experience. Was waiting in line to check out with whoever was in lane 2 at 6:45pm on June 13th, she wasn’t wearing a name tape. We were next in line and she turned her light off, and told us her lane was closed. No big deal, she may have forgot. But as we walked away, she flagged over 2 or 3 families of color. Then proceeded to let her line fill all the way up and continued helping only people of color. This was not a 12 or less lane, our cart was half full, everyone she flagged over had fuller carts so we know that was not the problem. I spoke about it with Sean at the customer help desk and the girl stared at me with anger the whole time, she knew it was inappropriate. I hope to speak with a manager about the issue. If I had turned away customers in line while my light was still on, I would be fired. This is not the way you...
