South Texas State Fair — Local services in Beaumont

I have never seen a state fair intentionally ostricise an entire show they host. This one does. It's clear the fair organization, the young men's business league itself, doesn't want to host an exhibition poultry show. They make unloading animals, Parking, communication, award ceremonies, Almost every single aspect of this show hard. The show superintendent, Harold Durham, is the only reason this show is even possible. He and those that work with him have had to work against the efforts to dissolve this show at every step. They're such good people involved in this show. And this show has so much potential. Exhibition poultry as a fancy is increasing every year. It's a way that people, especially Youth exhibitors, with small budgets and no land can be involved in Agriculture.

My husband is an ag teacher. He and I show exhibition poultry. We have shown their poultry show 5 times. This Year was the worst. There's 0 parking available. We had to wait for pig exhibitors to leave to park. Instructions given were impossible to follow because of intentionally difficult situations created by the fairground. We were not able to leave the facility as instructed because they had the gates chained shut to only allow golf carts through. I exhibit turkeys and the show organizers refuse to allow that to be An awarded class, although it is a crowd favorite And a recognized class onto itself.

This fair has A lot to offer. The rides are inexpensive. The food is reasonably priced. There's events going on constantly. But An organization intentionally making things difficult for Such a wonderful opportunity for their community signals huge underlying issues. We need inexpensive opportunities for Students to participate in agriculture, not everyone can afford a Heffer...

Went to the fair last night with my family and the only complaint that I have is the black women security guard with the red cowboy hat that had the medal detector. She was so rude to everyone including me . Someone in charge needs to talk to this women please. The fair has been lovey family function for me and many others for generations.And people like this just ruin it . Just treat others the same way you want...

Always have fun at the Fair, except when u take party poopers! A friend and his granddaughter came with me, 12 year old and she didn't want to ride ANY RIDES! Stayed 2 1/2 hours and it was hott! Won't do that again!!!!! Tried the Gator Tail, was good....
