I hate to leave a negative but the fact that the lady, who I am assuming owns this business, ruined the shopping experience. She was kind when I bought some stuff, I waited around for my friend to get done shopping, she was mulling over a moose antler for 225.00 and I discovered another area I missed when shopping at first, and decided I wanted this cool handmade gorgeous blue vase (along the left side of the building -top shelf) and some glass piper birds (main building) however, before grabbing these items I needed to pee. Kidney stones , I had just been in the hospital for them, so I walked around to see if they had a public restroom or not. There it was- the restroom a sign above the door was labeled RESTROOM. There was nothing that said we couldn’t use it, and if we couldn’t they were smart enough to put a sign in the public shopping area stating it was a restroom. Then they should be smart enough to put a sign up stating it is not a public restroom.
So I used it. It’s a business. The lady was complaining about me being in the bathroom that CITy FoLk come into her store and think we can just use the restroom and how she can’t stand it. We shouldn’t be using the bathroom. How many times people leave it a mess.
??? Then Why did you label it restroom? Whey is there a sign above the door announcing its very existence instead of labeling the sign NO public restroom?
Needless to say I did not buy the vase or the birds and my friend who was standing in the main building at the time now shopping for rings decided against her moose antler and rings because of how rude this lady was.
I was a bit shocked by the business model this place is running. I would rather go two minutes from this place into beaver bay and go to the two gift shops in town. Skipping rocks gift shop or Beaver bay agates. I won’t stop here again despite the awesome collection of glass and misc trinkets. Or how cool the handmade blue vase was and how well it would go in my beach living room … sorry but I wish I had used a credit card so I could ship the stuff I did buy, ship it back to them and do a charge back. That’s how rude it was . I feel bad that I had to leave this review , but it’s their own fault. Don’t talk about your customers while they are still in the building. And display a no public restroom sign at entrance or on the door of your fricken restroom that is in the main area of shopping . It’s not blocked off at all you have purses for sale right next to your well labeled restroom.
Like I said beaver bay town is 2 minutes from there. Gift shops, bathrooms, and hopefully...
Read moreWe usually take a yearly trip up to and drive up the coast to Grand Marais. This is one of the places we always stop at. They have so much merchandise and a lot of it is out front of the store on tables and they also have more inside in their store. I noticed this year they have even added more and another building. You can an amazing variety of glassware from back in the forties and fifties. Also statues, figurines, jewelry, clothes like coats, and a whole lot of assorted other things. I usually find a treasure every time I go there. This year I found hand blown glass rooster and he is gorgeous. I have to at home so I just added him to my growing tribe of roosters. I believe they take a lot of things on consignment and a lot of their things are on the pricey side. Just depends on what you are looking for or what gets your attention or what...
Read moreThis is a mecca for me on the North Shore, in East Beaver Bay. As a tableware collector, I love the sheer variety of pieces available, plus the attractive prices. Some items are indoors, while others are displayed on large plywood improvised tabletops outside. Tarpaulins are attached with clips to the tables outdoors, and can be hastily drawn up to cover merchandise in case it rains. Besides tableware, there are figurines, farm implements, jewelry, vintage signs, vases, games, dolls, toys, furniture, decorative artwork, and other categories of vintage items. Sonja is the owner, and will answer questions about inventory and the variety of merchandise being sold there, on consignment. There is something for everyone at...
