This store makes me so angry that I'm ready to pay the higher prices at Hannaford just so I don't have to deal with this horrible store!!!
Ok, first let's talk about the good- the prices are lower, but not by much anymore. For the quality that you get at MB, the prices are still too high.
So let's start on the laundry list of things that are BAD about this store.,.
They should be embarrassed about the produce they offer. I've had to leave without items I've needed because I couldn't find a single fresh piece of the type of fruit or vegetable I've needed. For example, I needed a lime a week or so ago and was met with the bin of old/moldy fruit pictured below. Their peppers are always soft. The mushrooms are usually brown and ready to be thrown away. And then you may not even find the most basic items you need- I've gone in for scallions, dill and countless other items only to find empty bins. This makes no sense because there are always at least three employees in any given area of the store, "stocking" and just generally being in the way in the already- cramped store.
Then there's the meat. WHAT KIND OF GROCERY STORE PROUDLY SELLS GREEN MEAT??? I wanted to buy chicken last weekend but all they had was "manager's special" which means that it's all about to expire!!! Then they freeze the chicken before selling it- well, you can't refreeze already frozen chicken, so I can't buy my chicken ahead of time???
Then there's the prepare food. Soggy, soggy, soggy! If I want fried chicken, I want it to be crispy, not floppy and wet.
Then let's talk about the RUDE employees who will walk in front of you when you're going down an aisle or just stand in your way. That's not all of the employees though- there are some really sweet people that work there, and those are typically the baggers and the kids who get the carts- for the most part, they will come and get your cart after you put your groceries in your car. That is appreciated.
MB, PLEASE deal with the quality issues and PLEASE keep your employees off the floor unless it is necessary during busy shopping times because your aisles are crazy narrow.
Also, can you please keep with the standard locations for your products? If I'm looking for biscotti, I'm looking in the cookie aisle and not over a floating freezer full of frozen meals??? Seriously. Who even thinks like this?
Get it together, MB, because your prices are not so competitive anymore and there's a very nice Hannaford down the road that serves FRESH food at...
Read moreBeware if you buy sandwiches or other prepared foods here(Bedford, NH). They reprint new labels to show a different packaged on date.
I don't know about you but when I buy a sandwich or other pre made/packaged foods I am much more interested in the date it was made("packaged") and not the "sell by" date.
I buy a sandwich there every morning I work for lunch and the "Packaged On" and "Sell By" dates didn't always seem to make sense. Some sandwiches that were supposedly packaged just the prior afternoon needed to be sold that day while others had sell by dates a day or two later. Also, sandwiches I purchased that were supposedly made/packaged just the prior afternoon ended up being stale or soggy.
Well, I finally noticed they printout new labels and "carefully" place the new label over the original label to cover up the actual "Packaged On" date. I literally pealed off the 2nd/fake label to see the packaged on day was changed to show it was packaged 2 days later than it actually was. I asked about this practice and the manager of that department said it was fine for them to do that as long as they didn't change the sell by date. We got into an argument about the practice, but he kept defending the practice.
I am a retired AVP and Assistant Director from the Insurance and Financial Services industries. If I was the store manager or the owner I would IMMEDIATELY stop this practice and fire that department manager for knowingly committing this fraud on Market Basket customers. I'd like to think this is just one misguided/rogue department manager and not a systemic practice throughout the entire chain.
I even went to the courtesy department to complain, but the young lady working there looked and acted like she couldn't care less. I then asked to speak with the store manager, but was told only the assistant manager was in,
I will be discussing this practice with the Bedford, NH store manager, senior management and the appropriate State and or Federal agencies.
If this practice isn't illegal, it is definitely unethical and downright fraud! I have/had much higher expectations of...
Read moreFormer (Best) Cart Pusher Upfront Bagger / Cart Collector - Bedford, NH I worked there for 1 year and about 5 months over. It was okay. I was never really a fan of this place AT ALL from the start for lots of reasons. I could go through so many specifics (it's unbelievable) that I very much dislike, but I won't because I'm fair. They will miss me. Asked for upfront full-time Cart Pusher in the way beginning and they said no, but anyways... I was one of their super reliable best cart pushers (part time), and now I am a full-time Cart Pusher for Hooksett Walmart. BIG opportunities there with even more benefits than I originally thought! It's amazing! As a Cart Pusher there, I will eventually make $20+(plus) an hour from working there for years full-time (everyone here has different wages from experience) VS $14 part-time with zero benefits and being the only one out there each night being taken advantage of most of the time. I never gave them my real power and potential. Ask anyone at Hooksett Walmart, and they will tell you I'm supernaturally powerful taking in nearly 25 carts at a time continuously (without the Mule aka the Cart Manager Machine). I never have tried to do my best like that at Market Basket, because they did not deserve it, so I intentionally always did it slow and only took in 7 to 10 carts per row. I'm crazy at Hooksett Walmart 💪 Update: It is amazing here at Hooksett Walmart! I make over $1k every two weeks! Everyone is super nice and I couldn't have asked for such a good place to work at! I am so happy at my new job! They love seeing me be my supernaturally powerful self! Pros of MB: Idk. Some sort of income? Cons of MB: No upfront full-time, No individual pay raises or promotions other than bonuses for full-timers, Taken advantage of all the time and not rewarded at all, No benefits upfront (unless...
