2023-05-05 I flew my C172 from Del Rio, TX and arrived early afternoon. Having already called ahead earlier in the week to canvas the area, I was confident that Belen would be my preferred fuel stop.
John Thompson, the airport manager, greeted me at the fuel pump as I rolled in. He and his staff even assisted me with my refueling at the self-service pumps.
This is a first-class operation. I was initially drawn to KBRG because of its significantly lower fuel prices than anywhere else in the Albuquerque area, but the excellent customer service, courtesy car availability, and clean facilities are the true amenities of this operation.
John Thompson stressed that he wishes to make Belen (KBRG) the gold standard in New Mexico aviation, and he has proved to me that he's achieving his goal.
Trust me, this FBO/airport is well worth a slight course deviation. In close proximity to the township, there are plenty of dining and lodging opportunities for a meal or overnight...
