Don’t believe 95% of the negative reviews. I was there yesterday with my 11 year old grandson…I’m 73 and disabled with mobility issues. Sure, it’s an old school building built during my generation or before. That’s part of the charm of this place that the current generation doesn’t get. If you experienced true slate blackboards, wood classrooms floors, old classroom light fixtures, mosaic tile entrances, wooden handrails upstairs…. Didn’t go in the restrooms, but I bet they were a history lesson, too! The staff we encountered was one young, sweet, friendly, polite, helpful blonde girl. Okay, the building was older without AC, so the basement had a musty odor….what the hell do you expect. Yes, some of the displays could use some work. I got it! Watching my grandson fill up his iPhone with pictures dispelled that concern. I will ramble a bit here, but I’m on a roll. I helped build and maintain an extensive, and expensive display at a local park/zoo. Even back then, please parents, keep a handle on your “kiddos” that can do no wrong in your eyes. I’m done preaching, It does no good except makes me feel better… Again, the museum seems to be understaffed. Yes, I peeked into the “do not enter, employees only” areas. There is work being done. BUT, my impression is that the museum is underfunded with no corporate funding…I don’t know where their monies come from, but more is needed. I believe the staff is mostly volunteers. (If you have a complaint ((suggestion)) try volunteering or donating!) Ok, I’m done…I promise. If you are local, pay the museum a visit. If you’re into Legos, or your children or grandchildren send your hard earned cash on overpriced Lego sets, pay the museum a visit. If you’re in the Ohio Valley for whatever reason, pay the museum a visit. If you disagree with me and don’t like it, write me a review. I won’t give you your money back, but I’ll debate your opinion. If you read this entire “opinion,” God bless you and God bless...
Read moreEvery sculpture was coated in a thick layer of dust, clearly indicating a severe lack of maintenance. Many of the displays were broken or non-functional, leaving large gaps in the supposed exhibition. The rooms themselves were dimly lit and felt claustrophobic. The overall impression was one of neglect and disrepair; the whole place felt profoundly creepy and unsettling. This experience was far below any reasonable expectation, and I strongly advise against visiting this location. It was a complete waste of our time and money, and frankly, a disturbing experience...
Read moreThis is one of the coolest places we have ever discovered! Inside of this old school are rooms and rooms on floors and floors of legos…or should we say, toy and plastic bricks! Each room has a different theme and creations matching those themes. From glow-in-the-dark to a zoo! The lower level even houses a creation listed in the Guinness Book of World Records! Above the world record on the stage? A working trio band! That’s right! Completely created and move to the music! If you have never been, you will want to check this...
