I had been considering a custom hat for quite a while and just kept putting it off. I can never find a hat in a commercial store that I like or more importantly fits my long oval noggin. I saw Dakotas hats on line and really liked her work and was even more excited to learn that her shop was just a short drive from where my wife and I would be at while on vacation visiting Wyoming and South Dakota.There aren’t any custom hat makers in Virginia where I’m from. We arrived at her shop and after a brief conversation about what I was looking for, measurements were taken and then we got into the finer details of ribbon color and the crown and brim style. She had a number of felts in the raw there to pick from and I made my choice of the color “whiskey” with a 5” brim and puncher crown. After she had my hat made she sent several photos for my approval and it looked great so I said send it on my way. Once It arrived and I opened the box I knew I made the right choice with Dakota. She is a hat artist and is extremely skilled at her craft. I get compliments everywhere I go wearing my hat. The best thing is knowing that I won’t run into anyone wearing one exactly like it.
