Yellow, and orange watermelons were advertised on their Facebook page. First time paying visit to check out their produce offerings. We decided on the over priced orange watermelon. I asked the employee to choose a good melon. Brought it home, cut it open to find the most awful piece of fruit one would imagine. The meat of the melon was mush. Unable to slice. The taste was stomach churning. We spent $9 to throw the melon in the trash. We found items were poorly marked. Seemed the favorite number was $9. Our experience wasnt any better paying when paying for our purchase. We apparently disturbing the employee behind the counter who was speaking loudly to someone on her phone. Not only was our experience terrible at this supposed fresh produce market we were overcharged for the melon we purchased. In addition this place will not stand behind their product, and lie about why our melon was rotten. According to them if you don't consume the item the same day it's purchased it will turn bad. Stay away from this over priced place. One would ve better off digging a hole and throwing money into it. Our rotten disgusting melon was purchased on Saturday. The person on her cell phone was a young women in her 20's. If you were paying attention to your business you would know who was working on this day and wouldn't have to ask who was working. In addition how about repairing your entrance on 475 before someone experiences severe damage to...
Read moreOrganic produce is in short supply in these parts, so I was excited to visit O'Steen's Market to see what they had. I was a bit underwhelmed with the freshness and quality. There are a lot of home made canned goods like jams and jellies, pickles, salsa etc.
I bought a few things and as I was paying for them I mentioned to the clerk, who I have reason to believe may have been a part of the family who owns the place, made a snaky comment that I didn't appreciate.
I mentioned that I used to be vegan and he interrupted me with, "I'm sorry". Then he snickered like he thought his comment was so clever. I thought it was inappropriate, insulting and entirely uncalled for.
This area doesn't have a huge vegan population, but I think an organic produce market would attract the few who do live here. So why would the shop keepers make rude comments that would drive them away. Which is exactly what he did.
I won't be going there again. And I will share my experience with other who might.
REPLY: I don't know his name. I thought he was a member of the family because he took a phone call at the register and then referred to the caller as, "The boss... my wife". Perhaps he was referring to his person boss and not his...
Read moreWe purchased the orange watermelon on Saturday as was stated by my husband, as well as me on your Facebook page. We cut it open Tuesday morning and it was absolutely disgusting, being all mushy with no flavor. A mushy watermelon means that it's an old watermelon. I don't appreciate being accused of not cutting into it soon enough by waiting 3 days after purchasing it, like I was accused of doing so on your FB page. We didn't keep the receipt, but purchased it with our debit card and that's the only item we bought. Sorry, not happy with our experience nor your defensive response, when I posted my complaint. Sorry, but our experience in your shop as well as with a melon that was allegedly fresh, has caused us not to want to even bother going to Osteen's ever again. All you had to do was apologize for the bad melon and offer the refund but unfortunately, you continued to deflect and became defensive, which wasn't necessary as a business owner. We are moving on. It...
