
CrossFit MetroEast was more than I ever expected when I decided to try out CrossFit.
I've never worked out at a gym with such a supportive community who wants you to succeed at YOUR personal goals. Every workout, every time, not only are the coaches working with you but everyone in class is pulling for you to finish. When I first joined, every person made it a point to introduce themselves. I've noticed the same for each person who has joined after me, whether they just dropped in as a class visitor or they joined. The coaches aren't the only ones who build this community. Members also put together social gatherings outside of the gym so that everyone can get to know each other and continue to build friendships.
From the initial consult onward, the coaching staff has kept my personal goals in mind. Each coach makes sure they know how I've progressed to be able to scale weights/movements for me so that I get to the intent of the workout each time I show up. We've worked through specific hitches in movements, mobility issues and various stretches that were individualized to areas that I wanted to improve on.
The coaching staff keeps things fresh without forgetting about the basics. While there are a lot of complex movements and lifts that I had never done before in my life, the coaching staff works with you and the class each time to make sure that you are safely and correctly doing each movement even if it has been days or weeks since you did it last.
While I have not done a specific nutrition based coaching session yet, the initial consult phase worked through some basic nutrition education that most people have never known, forgotten about, or never put into practice. The staff have always done an excellent job at keeping nutrition at the forefront of your mind. The purpose being that they not only want you to have a great workout, but also be able to properly fuel yourself for the results you want to attain by having those great work outs.

I was terrified to start CrossFit because I had NEVER done anything remotely close to it. I was bored with my old workout routine of running and using weight machines at the gym. I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. My husband encouraged me to try CrossFit, but I was hesitant because unlike him, I had never done weightlifting or high intensity workouts before. My husband wanted to join, so I went with him to meet Josh and sit down to talk about CrossFit. Josh was very thorough! We talked about nutrition and programming and even about the various injuries we have had so he could know what our limitations might be. We joined immediately and have loved it ever since!! The coaches are absolutely incredible. They are so knowledgeable and they always knew how to scale workouts for me so that I could still get the most out of a workout without sacrificing movements that were challenging for me. They also had my back in making sure that I was doing he movements correctly so that I wouldn’t injure myself. The coaches always remained supportive as well as the rest of the community at the gym. I loved working out in such a supportive environment. I felt welcomed by everyone and appreciated that nobody looked down on me because I couldn’t do everything the way they could. I gained so much strength after only a few months. I was blown away! My confidence grew and my love of CrossFit became a passion. I am the most fit I have ever been and fitness and health are now a top priority of mine. I cannot speak highly enough of this gym. I had to move out of state for work, and I have been to many other CrossFit gyms trying to find a new one and none of them even come close to CFME. From day one, the coaching team has been incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. Ali, Dawnella, Lindsey, Traci, Kole, and Craig do an amazing job leading the group classes. They explain what to expect each day, demo every movement with clarity, and always take the time to scale exercises based on individual abilities. Throughout the workout, they provide valuable guidance and encouragement, which keeps you pushing yourself.
Alyssa’s nutritional programming has also been a game changer. Her approach is science-based yet practical and sustainable, helping me build better habits without feeling overwhelmed or restricted. I've seen real results because of her guidance.
Josh’s positive energy truly stands out as well. Whether it’s a quick word of encouragement during warm-ups, cheering you on mid-WOD, creating insightful content, or simply greeting you as you walk in, his leadership and attitude make a huge difference in the gym’s atmosphere.
Lastly, my favorite part of MetroEast Health & Fitness is the community. The group classes foster a sense of camaraderie where everyone is focused on their own goals but also supporting one another. No matter what's going on outside the gym, you always leave class with a feeling of accomplishment—both for yourself and the entire group.
