BEWARE OF THE BACTERIA IN THIS LAKE. PERSONALLY I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN AND WISH I NEVER WENT.
We went to this lake. The tucker lake in Benson, NC that's right next to the RV Park while staying at her RV Park On the 26th of May Memorial Weekend. The next day we experienced head cold like symptoms we passed off as possible allergies. By night things got worse we had high fevers and vomiting. We meaning all 5 of us that went to the lake ended up going to urgent care and got diagnosed with a bacterial infection and treated with antibiotics. It was horrible I've never felt so bad in my life. My youngest has gotten the worst of it hes only 5 ended up going to the emergency room 4 days after being on antibiotics because he woke up with a high fever of 103 and vomiting again and they failed getting a IV in him 7 times it was horrific. We are still suffering and on day 7 of antibiotic for a 10 day cycle. We had to get a oral antibiotic as well as antibiotic eye drops. This was the first time I've ever experienced anything like this in the 40 years of my life.
MY HUSBAND Dustin Reed WROTE A REVIEW HES A MAN OF FEW WORDS JUST RAISING AWARENESS TO HIS CONSERNS. AND THE LADY REPLIED WRONG LAKE. ITS JUST SAD SHE CANT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND IS SO CARELESS ABOUT THIS VERY SERIOUS SITUATION. IF I KNEW SHE WAS THIS TYPE OF PERSON I WOULD NOT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO HER POCKETS AT ALL.
REPLY TO RESPONSE: Quit lying we weren't evicted. You told us the 5th and we left on the 5th. We're not angry we left. We're glad and we were leaving ayways just got sick because your lake and didn't have the strength. You are something crooked that response is down right rude. I'm glad I don't have to deal with you ever again in my life. NO ONE ELSE SHOULD EITHER. We never asked for a dime from you nor do we want to stay at your park. we've never seeked any funds for our reviews but we will bring awareness to bad places like this and write whatever we want without some bitter womans gas lighting.
Update 6/13 We are still not well after going to that lake. I can look at our call log and find out but I know Dustin called before the 1st and asked you about the day rate due to us waiting for mail to come in. You told him we were good until the 5th. I know when bills are due had it been you saying it's this much you have to pay it would of been a different outcome. You gave us until the 5th even said it on your rv park reply. You don't need to tell me to pay my bills or worry about my bills we're all adults here. We moved to our next job all the way on the other side of the country. Do you think we did that for free? My finances are none of your business anyways. Now Dustin is concerned about a amoeba because he found out there is a ameoba in N.C that is in stagnet warm water like your lake and someone has died from it in N.C. If you were sick like us you would be concerned to. This is not a normal sickness and it's fighting the antibiotics we were on. We have to go back in soon if there is no change. These kinds of things you should take seriously instead of be so defensive and possibly put other people at risk for the same issue. You're right there's all kinds of bacteria and can get it from anywhere. But there were 5 of us there and we all got sick at the same time. It's a little coincidental and the only thing we all did that was the same for that to happen was go to the lake. When we went to the urgent care in Dunn the physician had told us she treated others that went to that lake. So, it's not just us that has dealt with this. You want to deny and blame that doesn't help anyone....
Read morePlease like & share our reviews. * Bring cash for gate entry.* Open 7 days a week. *Wheelchair accessible: NO. (Nothing is concrete and so many inclines/declines and tree roots.) We passed this gem while returning from the coast one evening. Boy did the place look like fun! If you are longing for the days of Ol' America and how things used to be, visit Tucker Lake. It was the America I remember. People were friendly, fun & social. Cost: $12 for adults, $10 for 3-10 yrs, 2 & under free, $2 for cars if you drive throgh the gate. If you do not plan to use the picnic areas, park at the first parking lot on the left as you pass the little entrance garden. You can have coolers and food on the lake just be careful not to litter. Life Guards are everywhere! They were excellent too. My son went running into the lake solo while I was still applying sunscreen. He had on a life vest and tube but was without an adult and the life guard immediately jumped up to see where I was, it was impressive. Toddlers & Baby mommas: This is perfect for you! There are several little slides and activities for your babies. You can bring infants in a covered floatie and they would love it. The water was clear and it wasn't over-crowded. You can float baby around and not worry about getting splashed. Kids 5 & up: There are bigger slides and obstacle courses for these guys. They will love the floating obstacle course. There is also a huge slide on the lake on shore. Kids must be 42" to ride. *Adults: There is a trapeze swing and a zip line free fall. It was so fun to watch the older teens and adults "perform". If you didn't bring your own food and drinks, never fear, there is a food shack on site too We saw several folks eating food from there. Sanitation rating was 100% which is beyond impressive!!! Prices are reasonable. If you have a toddler who randomly goes through the packed beach bags and removes the sun cream and you fail to realize said sun cream is not with you at the lake, they do have some for sale at the shop next to the food shack. It is 100 proof and cost $10. There are public bathrooms, shaded picnic areas, outdoor grills, and trash receptacles everywhere. The lake shore closest to the entrance is where most of the little kids activites are. The far back area is mostly just lake shore and zip line fun. The bathrooms and dressing area were the cleanest I have ever seen at a lakeside swim place. In all of my travels worldwide, this bathroom area was shockingly well kept up. No muddy puddles and grime on the floor, and everything functioned. There was a fan running which kept the air oscilating and cool. We were really shocked at how cleanly it was. (For kids who really do not like the beach all that well, there are several play grounds and swing sets that they can enjoy. * Just be very careful because they are right alongside the entry way where people are constantly driving in and out.) We arrived at Tucker Lake at noon on Sunday and there was a CARAVAN of cars. The women at the gate were soooo quick at taking monies and getting the line through. They were quick but courteous. We were there til closing and my kids, after 6 straight hours of non-stop play did not want to leave. We had so much fun that we will definitely be back with friends next time too! Took so many videos and pictures. What a blast!! Thank you to all the staff & employees for a wonderful time...
Read moreOur family has passed Tucker Lake on the interstate, on our way to Carolina beach, for years....We would always say we needed to make a point to check it out...We decided this would be the summer to do just that...and boy am I glad we did! With the pandemic rules, we weren't sure if there would be attendance limits... so we were at the gate to enter...right at 10am. On both of our visits we were greeted by the sweetest employees. We chose to park in the free parking... however you can opt to pay just $2 to park in the shaded picnic area if you prefer.....They offer porta John's AND a super clean brick and mortar restroom...They have a nice playground area... GORGEOUS... perfectly raked and always spotless sandy beaches that makes you feel like you're on vacation! The lake itself is clean...well maintained...and you can see to the bottom. In the water there is something for everyone....My kids love the water obstacles, water slides, rope swing, and diving board...I love that I can take my own raft ... Have them fill it with air (¢50 a float) and relax knowing that they have vigilant lifeguards on staff. On our first visit we opted to bring a cooler for lunch but on our second visit we opted to order from the concession stand. The concession stand staff is friendly, fast and efficient! Our group ordered cheeseburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs and finished with ice cream and everyone was satisfied with their order. We loved our experiences at Tucker Lake and highly recommend giving...
