First, let me say the experience at this butcher is 5+ Star.
I always get greeted like I'm a family friend and called out by name like Norm from Cheers. I have had the privilege to have met the owners and they are amazing people. They care for both the customer and the product they create; no question about it. Their communication is perfect (Phone calls a day before its ready). They really try to fit additional animals in when possible, even though they are crazy busy.
I have brought multiple farm livestock (Pig and Cows) for them to process and I always get it back better than I request. The smoke curing they offer has a great taste and has a flavor that enhances your meat. No additional preservatives or by- products added.
Each meat is packaged in plastic; sealed and shrink wrapped, concise and clear labeling and organized on a rolling cart so you can load it easily. Everything is frozen solid for the trip home.
The team that works in the background does a fantastic job. From the folks who helps off load the animal, to the butchers in the back. The pride in their work is very obvious and the talent is top notch. You can see it in the cuts and how the meat is presented.
They also have a great selection of pre-cut meats, honey from local growers, jams and select syrups for that great southern flair.
I drive over an hour to get to them and its worth every trip.
Lastly, A huge thank you to the butchers in the back; you make the experience real at the dinner table; making the 'farm to fork' experience the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn the last year, Iāve done business with 3 butcher houses and this one is by far the messiest. My ground beef was covered in frozen (but thawing) beef & blood. They donāt vac seal it, so blood drips everywhere. They donāt have a public bathroom so I couldnāt wash my hands after touching all the bloody packages. Yuck! Thankfully, I had water bottles and soap sheets in the car.
Once I got the beef home, I had to line my freezer with plastic and then get to work scooping ground beef out of the extra plastic above the clamp. After that, I had to wipe down every ground beef package to avoid a nasty bloody mess in my freezer. Buying a whole beef doesnāt have to be so annoying.
This may not be a big deal to a lot of people and thatās fine. I donāt enjoy the bloody mess and since I know butcher houses can do better, this house deserves 3 stars.
Also, I thought it was super odd to be told that a whole beef wouldnāt have a TriTip because of its 600+ hang weight. I was told that my beef āprobablyā wouldnāt have one and that whatever was there would be ground up. I did get the tri and paid $10 extra for it according to my receipt. Iām pointing this out because Iāve had 590lb-910lb hang weights and theyāve all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had passed by this place several times in the past couple of years and just assumed they were a normal meat processing plant. However we took a shot and stopped in yesterday. I will now say screw the grocery store this will now be my place to shop for the meat I need. I am overwhelmed at the quality of their products not only do they have great cuts of meat they have specialty sausages that they make with unique combinations of flavors. They are not mere gimmicks but they are true quality products that you will love.. Their prices are also very reasonable. They have things you cannot find at the stores in your town such as bacon sausage, beef bacon, Blueberry and Maple flavored homemade sausage and many others besides that. This will now be my regular stop for meat and other novelties such as their wonderful beef jerky. Many times when people praise the service and say how great the owners are we overlook the lackluster nature of the product they sell.. Hiever at Harpo's you get both quality products and high quality genuine people. Do yourself a favor and check this place out and buy their quality products. No need to bring your own cow or pig, they are a full retail meat market. You...
