First update:

Upon posting my review, the owner answered that he wanted to improve my experience with the store. I came back today with all the rings, including the one that started the whole issue. It turns out that there are rare situations that even with the use of technology, it’s hard to be sure about a diamond without taking it out of the band. They used three devices and got inconclusive results. However, I gave them authorization to take it apart so we can finally know what’s up! If it’s not a diamond, the owner offered to give me one to use for the ring which is extremely generous of him. I will give a final update once the ring is done but this interaction really cleared the air and I would trust them.

I went to the store twice to design the ring with John. He helped me decide what to do with them and send me via emails options. I had two rings with big enough “diamonds” to be center stones. After John cleaned and studied them in the back, he recommended one over the other and I agreed. So, I had one extra ring I wasn’t going to use for this project. I had seen online that they bought jewelry as well, but John said that they weren’t interested and I would be better off selling it online. I ordered my custom ring that day and took home the one to resell. Since I didn’t really know how to go about selling jewelry I decided to go to a pawn shop instead. There after looking at the ring less than a minute and using a diamond tester, they told me it wasn’t a diamond but a moissanite. I was shocked because John had looked at it twice and taken it in the back to test it. The guy at the pawn shop did it right in front of me, and I couldn’t deny it, it wasn’t a diamond. It got me thinking and what if the other rings weren’t real as well? After all I don’t know the back story for each of them! I emailed John and explained the situation. He told me he already had tested them but he would do it again. He called me back a little bit later … the other ring was also a moissanite. That really made me mad because I had agreed to spend 2k on a ring that would have been more or less worthless. What if I hadn’t insisted to have them checked again? This situation really got me thinking about how this could have happened. First: John didn’t actually checked the diamonds when he went in the back (but why?!) or he knew the stones weren’t real but still wanted to make a sell. Either way, that’s not the kind of quality of service that I want to encounter...

I came to this store's fairly new location on Mcmurray Rd not knowing what to expect. Now, I wasn't shopping for new things, I wanted to restore very old things and make them like new again. The service was stellar. Everything you want and nothing more. They listened carefully to what I wanted, came up with ideas and let me choose the direction to take. The store is clean and inviting from the outdoor zen like water pool that greets you as you walk up to the front door.. to the vestibule with animal friendly signs.. to the fresh and clean interior.. you can tell they want to create a very pleasant experience for their customers, no matter what mission you're on.. and they do. Upon entry, just authentic friendly people who clearly enjoy their job of delighting customers with pleasant and interested service. I left there feeling my items were in good hands. A little time passed as I was in no rush and there was no negative pressure to pickup my items, just friendly nudges via text that I could come get them whenever I was able. Now the highlight of my story... my items were not just restored to their former glory - they were better than new. Pause for applause.. repeat the line... Better Than New... omg. How is that even possible? The experience was so amazing I may just go dig for other items that I've been burdened by what they have become... because now I know what they can be ... at JAB.... wowza!! I walked into JAB Jewelers not knowing anything about the company. Being fairly new to Pittsburgh (4 years) I was very leery to leave my diamond rings with anyone to have work done. My fears were allieved after meeting with Michael Kelley. I had and continue to have the most wonderful, professional, knowledgeable and friendly experience with Mike and all the staff at JAB Jewelers!!! Michael Kelley is fantastic!!! He not only walked me through the process of redesigning a ring using my 2 diamond rings. but explained the differences in weights, settings, cost, value and long term investment. I am also having him refurbish a diamond cocktail ring that belonged to my mother. I just picked up my new ring that we designed together and I could not be more thrilled!!!! JAB Jewelers will now be the only place I ever do business with!!! At first, I was very scared to leave my diamonds with a Jeweler. Not knowing if something could happen to them. My mind was put right at ease as the diamonds never leave the store and all the work is done on sight. I picked up my new ring yesterday and could not be more excited and thrilled!!! The beauty of the ring has surpassed all my expectations!!! If anyone wants the most trustworthy, professional, knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating service JAB is the only Jewelers to do business with! Thank you again, Mike and all the amazing staff.
