Just had my 9th rafting trip in the forks. Second year in a row I chose north country rivers. I went and I took my camper this time. The flys at the camp sites make it so miserable to be outside. Good luck getting a camper backed up if the grass hill if it’s wet. I tried to get a refund on the second night but they have a 15 days cancellation policy. Trust me it’s not busy so if you choose to stay with the bugs it’s gonna be open. The guides were great. The food was just awful. I remember they used to cook food on the river and it was great. Now the food is served back at the lodge. It’s dry chicken, over cooked dry tiny steak, the sides were terrible and the premade frozen cookies were the best part. I’m pretty sure the breakfast was included last year now it’s ~$15 for what looked terrible. The food in the only restaurant was okay except for some terrible pizza pocket thing. In years past we’ve stopped at waterfalls on the river. Didn’t stop at any of them this time. 100% will be the last time I go to the forks with a company. Private guides only. Also if you do decide to go they offer a Groupon discount and bring bug spray because the bugs at the dam...
Read moreWe went as a group of friends, and it was the first river rafting experience for all of us — we were equally scared and excited! As soon as we arrived, the owner greeted us with complimentary coffee, which felt so welcoming. The staff helped us gear up with wetsuits — they were super patient and spent almost 40 minutes just helping our group get perfectly fitted. Safety was taken very seriously; everyone was checked thoroughly before we began.
Our guide, Ben, was simply awesome — super active, friendly, and made us feel comfortable right away. He explained every step clearly, guided us through the entire trip with great energy, and even let us swim in safe spots. It was a perfect mix of fun, adventure, and safety!
Totally loved the whole experience — the team, the food buffet, and the beautiful river views. 100% worth it and a must-try adventure in Maine! Highly recommend North Country Rivers for an unforgettable rafting...
Read moreMy cousins and I spent the day white water rafting with Chris and North Country Rivers. Chris is basically part river guide, part action hero. The man has absolutely no flight response. While the rest of us were bracing for impact, he was charging into rapids like it was a casual stroll through the woods. Don’t worry—Chris can pull a 300-pound, soaking wet deadweight bear out of the water, so he’ll save you if you go overboard too.
He made sure we had a day we’ll never forget—from surfing the rapids (yes, we surfed a river) to his wild stories about bear hunting and bootie beers. If you don’t know what a bootie beer is... well, may you stay in the raft and remain blissfully unaware.
Chris was an absolute gem and, as some of us noticed, a ruggedly handsome outdoorsman with big “mountain man energy.” We’re already plotting our next adventure, and yes, we’ll be requesting Chris again. Lexi,...
