Had fun fishing. However, the younger girl that was working at the stand seemed grouchy and unhappy to be there. Maybe had a rough day? My six-year-old was hanging from a large tree branch near where you check out and she yelled "don't let him swing on the tree!" very rudely, then continued to explain that it was bad for the tree and the bossman would yell if he saw it. That there are a lot of kids that come there and they don't allow it. Okay if it's that big of a deal they should probably put a sign up asking people not to hang on the tree branches! Also, if a young child is doing it, they could ask politely for them to stop instead of being RUDE.
Next time we will be making the slightly longer drive to Tumbling Waters trout pond, (highly recomend), where there is always great hospitality, better prices, and they also pack the trout on ice, (instead of in the single bag with no ice like they did for us today at Coopers Creek).
EDITED TO ADD The owner has since responded to my review with complete lies. I was standing right there and the worker wasn't even aware he was hanging from the tree branch, and never once asked him to stop. The only reason she knew he was hanging from it is because she heard me say something to him about it. That is when she very rudely yelled to me "DON'T LET HIM HANG FROM THE TREE!!". Also, his safety was never a concern seeing as his feet were able to touch the ground if he straightened his legs. She herself said the owner didn't want people hanging on it because it's bad for the tree. Like I said, y'all should put up a sign if that's the case, and not be RUDE...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I decided to go here on our road trip, unfortunately as soon as we pulled up to the trout farm (after about 2 miles on a gravel road) our car’s alternator burned out and we were stranded. Luckily, some of the nicest people ever work here! One of the employees offered to call her boyfriend who is a mechanic and have him check it out. He ended up giving us a ride all the way back into town to get the part, fixed the car, AND even gave us a discounted price! The whole ordeal took a while so they allowed us to stay at the farm after hours and walk around. The scenery is very beautiful with a stream running through and mountains all around. The same employee told us some fun facts about trout and the farm and kept us entertained while we were stuck. We ended up fishing for a bit and have already eaten one of the fish we caught and it tasted incredible. If it wasn’t for the kindness of the employees, our road trip would’ve been ruined, but instead we got a great story. If we’re ever in the area again, we will DEFINITELY be...
Read moreSuper fun experience! All the staff were helpful and friendly. I saw posts about the older gentleman there, and I feel some people are just easily offended and don't understand how to relax. This gentleman was absolutely nice to us and we had great conversations. You must understand how this works. They only charge $3 per person to fish. This includes everything you need ( fishing poles, bait, net, etc) then you choose how many fish you want to keep. There is NO catch and release. ( signs are clearly posted) the price for the fish you keep is posted per pound of the fish before cleaning. Which is normal when you do even charter fishing trips on the coast. The staff cleaned and fileted ours and bagged them up. We kept 6 fish and we paid under $90 for everything. Keep in mind that this covers the cost of them maintaining this beautiful land and taking care of all the fish. Relax!!! Enjoy being out in nature and have fun with the ones around you!! We had a great...
