I finally took my husband and boys out to P.R. Moores Produce in Biscoe, NC yesterday to try Karen's Fried Pies & More. I heard about her from Southern Living magazine a few years ago and finally made it out there. We made a quick stop at a friendās in Oakboro and then enjoyed the drive in the Uwharrie National Forest. The boys had fun looking around, and picking out āa treatā, which I thought was the apple, but turned out to be candied jellies. (Surprise, surprise š). My husband and I got one bourbon pecan and one sweet potato fried pie, plus an Apple fritter. We also brought home some Arkansas black apples, which I recently learned about and wanted to try. It has that old world nostalgic feeling that today's big box grocery stores lack. The folks there were very friendly, too.
