I wish I could give Black point boat launch more stars because they have decent parking , a washdown area , a nice dock with only a slightly steep and quite muddy ramp . It's in Atherton so relatively safe for your truck and trailer but there are issues and some significant ones at that, like the powerful currents that constantly hamper loading and unloading and the everpresent abandoned watercraft residing longterm at the ramp. Experience is what makes or breaks this launch as the crooked slippery ramp and currents aren't the only dangers to navigate , San Pablo bay itself is a tricky and dangerous to place to be at low tide where the average water depth is 2 ft and a massive Sand bar sits and waits for the inexperienced boater to come by and get stranded far from shore till the next high tide. The absolute best advice I can give is that if you don't have a good , accurate depthfinder or an airboat, kayak or canoe and binoculars don't go to Black point boat launch or San Pablo bay and if you do follow the channel markers closely and do not stray !!...
Read moreThe Black Point Boat Launch is a great place to launch your boat! With direct access to the Petaluma river as well the whole Bay Area, what more could you ask for? This boat launch is equipped with plenty trailer parking spots as well as a couple standard sized spots. There are also the amenities to catch fish with a nicely sized dock. One of my favorite things about Black Point is the area where you can grill and sit at the picnic table. Once you’re done cooking up a meal, there are two bathroom stalls open for your use (incase those beans run you...
